Hello Rennlist New 1988 S4 Owner
Hello Renlisters,
Just though I would introduce myself. I am Dennis and I live in Austin, Texas. I recently purchased a 1988 928 S4. I have always loved the 928 but for practicality reasons never thought I should own one. I came to my senses and realized that none of my other cars are practical so why not get a 928. My 928 has approximately 127,000 miles and is a pretty solid car. It is not a trailer queen as it has many small issues, but I am slowly dealing with each of them. I am sure I will have some questions in the future, but for now, everything is working reasonably well. I have been reading the forums here for a few weeks and have found a wealth of information already. I look forward to meeting some of you in person and seeing some of the incredible examples of this model.
Here are a couple pics of my car.

Welcome, just don't mind me.
Looks like a nice canvas to make your own.
You'll love your car even more over time, and wifey will eventually agree with you.
Said that ^ To say this,... The forum members here are 6 degrees from everyone else, you Will find all the support and help you will need to maintain your 928 here.
Usually you will get a quick response to a question you May have, we try not to give ill advice, so it's possible to pose a question that remains unanswered for a few hours.

Oh yeah!, as a side note, this forum has been infiltrated by "spam bots", they are recognised by their screen name, always gibberish letters, the responses are not random, but quotes from earlier responses.
DO NOT REPLY TO A BOT, DO NOT CLICK ON ANY POST OF A BOT!
The mods try to quell the bots, but it's like playing whack a mole.

Welcome Dennis. Nice looking shark. I have been thinking of a white one, then I would have that spy vs. spy thing going on.

Welcome. Nice looking car.
How is the interior and engine?
Auto or 5-speed?
Maintenance records?
There are a few "known issues" that are very serious. Timing belt, fuel lines, thrust bearing in autos are just a few.
If those aren't addressed, or known to have been already, then you should think very seriously about taking care of them.
There's a pretty good crowd in Texas. Lots in the DFW area.

Welcome! Be sure to check out the Third Coast thread --and to attend. You'll probably be with about 30 928s and their owners. A really nice group of people and a great event. The Spring Fling 928 gathering, where you can meet a number of 928 owners and enjoy is also coming up in Rockport and enjoy bluebonnets and the beach.

As you've noted above, this forum has a wealth of 'free' information available, so I suggest supporting this forum financially by becoming a member. Its not a lot in comparison to the money you will save paying an 'expert' to give their opinion elsewhere.
BTW - Nice pickup - I always wanted a white one.............
