Default 2017 928 40th Anniversary - EURO928 - Reims France May 25-28, 2017

The French 928 Club is hosting the European 928 celebration in Reims.

Website will be up and running in about 10 days.
http://www.euro928-2017.eu/teaser.php

Attached is a good flyer to set the scene.

I will be attending. Plan is also to rent something fast and sample the high speed driving on the Autobahn.

Bilal is coming with me - anyone else want to join in from the States?

Default Interesting

Having shipped several cars (Mercedes, Volvo's) in the past between the USA and Europe I always considered taking a 928 (putting it for a roundtrip on a Ro-Ro boat) and use it for an extended European cruise this may be the life time event to do so.

Now if can get back in time from the Bahamas and get all my duck's in a row we may just do this.

Very tempting to make this!

I was just there last June for a stopover on my trip to LeMans. You guys will love Reims but you will have to stop in at the Mumms winery. Well worth the stop as this is the official champagne of F1.
Plenty of great places to eat in Reims and you can always catch the bullet train to Paris (1-1.5 hrs max) for a night out on the town.
I wish I could make the return, I was just a year too early.

Default Cost estimate to ship to EU

Based on one posted RoRo online published price. I estimate the shipping cost to take your 928 to the EU 50 years anniversary event to be $2K - #3K for a round trip shipment.

Than consider to use your the car to make an extended 6-8 week tour through Europe making it a unique life time event.

Yes, unless you get a better fare into Brussels including car or something. the drive from Brussels is ok, you can stop in the Ardennes, or take a detour to Luxembourg.

Although this sounds like a fun deal, and I'd kind of like to go, I won't be visiting continental Europe again, for reasons which will remain unsaid.

Fly to Charles de Gaulle North of Paris and then take the high speed train to Reims.

Interesting point Doc about going into Belgium .. with cab drivers protesting and blocking routes to the airport one might not want to count on traveling in and out of Paris ...

Hey, it's France - the socialist workers paradise. if it weren't the cabbies it would be the train engineers on strike. Can't win. Order a $16 cup of coffee, light up a Galouise(pr; Gall-wah), and let your cockapoo shilt on the sidewalk. Ces't-la-vie!

Nice thing about flying to Paris is you do not need to leave the airport as the train station is part of the complex.
I would choose Paris over Brussels any day.
