Someone on that Minerva Blue restoration thread shared a picture of their (perfect) engine bay, and I was shocked at how much stuff was cadmium-plated. Hose clamps! I had no idea. I actually wish I didn't know, because mine sure don't show that anymore...

I forgot to mention: my powder coater is going to touch up my pitted spout piece with some sort of JB Weld, and powder coat right over the top of it. He may live in a trailer out in the sticks, but he seems pretty clever. Except that he washes parts in his wife's sink when she's at work. I hope he doesn't get caught before he's done my parts.

And here's a photo that should reinforce the need to protect your engine from FOD (foreign object damage).

We have the same-colored children. Ours is 'better fed', apparently, or just doesn't poop enough for the quantity she eats.

The kids have irregular garage priv's. They will chase mice and bring them as offerings, but are too well-fed to hunt for food.

You're most likely right on the female... calico cats are almost always female, due to X chromosome inactivation of color allele. Now back to 928 content...

It is routine to replace the Temp II sensor during an intake refresh, which enjoys a certain notoriety, but not the other two temperature sensors. How come?

Not routine to replace.
If having cold start symptoms, can check the sensor by checking resistances at various engine temps via the WSM parameters.

I see now I got the impression from Roger's spreadsheet, not from Dwayne or elsewhere. I didn't go with everything on that list, but it seems like I've frequently heard mention of "Temp II". $37, so not a big deal.

The leads were kinda loose on mine, but no starting problems.

Meanwhile: I'm about to send my injectors out for cleaning. Witchhunter. Should have checked first: they replace the o-rings as part of their service, so didn't need any from Roger.

Curt,
Make sure you get the upper and lower O rings for the injectors.

I sense some past regret here!

My supply chain mistake means I'll have one new set for the engine, one set for my "spare parts" box, and one for my "old parts" box.

No, was all good.
Just wanted to make sure when you got the injectors back there wasn't just the lower ring attached to the injector, and no upper ring included (or possibly even vice versa).

Curt,

The upper o rings are a stock size but the lower ones a bit of an oddball. If the folks refreshing the injectors are not on the ball it is all too easy for them to bin the 928 specific rings and without thinking put the more common size on instead so threaten them with instant castration should they get it wrong.

Rgds

Injectors are on their way west. Powder coating underway. Gotta get cracking on the bucketful of parts to be plated - Monday or bust. New parts have arrived. Roger's $1000-size box is disturbingly small, as if it's a jewelry box, but the smell of fresh rubber is invigorating.

PSSST.. dont tell anyone but Roger has the cutest little elves that do all of his packaging,
in the most perfect ways.
