Default '83 euro s engine into '78

Quick newbie questions:

1. Would an '83 euro s CIS engine be a pretty straight forward replacement of the 4.5L engine for an '78 5 spd? Same ECM and engine harness?

2. Do all CIS engines use the same injectors for our 928?

3. Do I bolt on headers (MSDS) before or after placing the engine back into the car?

Thank you!

PM "Erik N" if he does not chime in. IIRC he made a similar if not the same swap. T

that should be an easy swap as both cars use CIS injection.you could use the existing connections and just change out the fuel side parts. worst case, all of the 4.7 would bolt rigth underneath the old 4.5 stuff, and you gain, 300cc, big cams, big valves and higher compression. 220hp going up to near 300hp. headers bolt on afterward
we did this with petty's 4.5 liter , but used a 5 liter bottomend i build up for him.

Very simple.....plug and play . Same injectors. Headers go on after the engine is in. Easier with a/C alternator not installed

Hi Dan, not much progress in the engine switch so far, since my ADD kicked in and I was working on the aluminum ball joints for the past week. The Harbor Freight ball joint extractor worked on the driver's side but not the passenger side, followed by the pitch fork. Ordered a Gearwrench ball joint extractor and finally worked today!

Besides that, I am working on disassembling the euro s engine to see what I need to replace. Going to contact Steven to see what the last owner of the engine did to it besides leaving me a nice present (see this)

Sorry Steven for not having to contact you yet, but I will soon.
