It is known that they will ALL FAIL due to a hybrid chip inside that dies a slow death over time. Not sure anyone has determined what influences the decay, but replace it now. Or later. Might as well get it over with now and eliminate the possibility.
This assumes it has not been rebuilt already.
Louis Ott in the US, and possibly Canada is the JDS rep., is one recommendation.

outbackgeorgia, I just wanted to confirm, when you had this issue, was your car running as bad as this (video posted)?

The 89 has the red/green trouble lights located under the the passenger side front footwell side cover that are used to determine which bank of cylinders are not firing.

Others here can provide more detailed info I'm sure.

Sometimes if you put in brand new plugs and then start it (or try to) and then pull the plugs again you can see which are firing or not more easily than with your old plugs. I had a bad plug wire on my '79 and finally found it because that plug stayed brand new while the others started to ash up.

I think all my plugs need a good cleaning...

Kent have you tried spraying starting fluid in the intake to see if it would run better for at least 10 seconds?
Might point to a fuel issue if it did.

I never had the chance to listen, but it was not able to rev over 3000 rpm.
Also, I would recommend some new regular copper plugs. I have had issues with platinum plugs in a 928 fouling easily.

Ok, so here is the latest. I took my LH to Phendriks and tried it on his GTS...and it works so the LH is not the problem. I put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and i have 54psi, so the pump is working. I checked the fuel regulator and both dampers and they are fine. When I checked for spark earlier (with timing light) I tested plug wires from both distributors and I got spark on both.

What am i missing??

I cant even get the engine to run again.

This car has been running perfectly
