Default M28/11 82D0645 Complete Engine For Sale

Before I commit to sell this motor complete to an interested party, is there anyone interested in the parts if I were to tear it town piece by piece? Based on your interested and offers I will take the next steps accordingly after pulling the engine out of the car. Shipping the pieces sounds much more appealing than dealing with a freight company at the moment...

I'd be happy with $1600 for the complete engine as pictured with the ECM and the manifolds included. Shipping truck freight not included. I've seen prices all over the map so I was just curious if the parts (intake assembly, heads, block, ECM, manifolds, etc.) were more desired and easier to sell than the entire engine...

Default M28/11 82D0645 Complete Engine For Sale

The inside is trashed. The previous owner was midway through a conversion into a race car when he fell on financial troubles and sold it. The front has been in an accident so the front fenders and bumper are not original. The transmission VIN doesn't match the VIN on the title. Its kind of a hot mess... So I'm using a lot of the parts for my '82 but don't have a need for a euro engine (except for maybe the heads for my '84).

I have paid $400 for the spider and throttle body and I have seen the heads go for $1000. It might not make much of a difference in the $ one way or the other. It comes down to demand and your desire.

Some questions: #1- Does the engine run well? #2- Are you going to get another 928? if yes to both, then #3- Do you really want to sell a running 300HP non-interferance engine ?

#1- It runs okay. I'm sure it needs a thorough going through top and bottom. It's hard to trust mechanical work that wasn't done by yourself or a bona fide expert Porsche mechanic when buying one of these cars. If I were to keep it I would completely rebuild it regardless of the work the PO told me he completed before selling the car...

#2- This '83 US/Euro Hybrid of sorts is #4 in my 928 fleet- I don't think my marital status can support a 5th...

#3- If I find an interested buyer, sure. I have my hands pretty full with my '82 and '84 at the moment. My '89 S4 needs some lovin' too but she'll just have to wait...

OK. I completely understand. Sorry if my Qs sounded stupid. My Ex got on me about my R/C plane 'habit': HER>How many planes do you have now? Me>about nineteen. HER> how many did you fly this year? Me> 4 or 5. Her> If you haven't flown it in a year, get rid of it." I tried 'logic' on her.."How many pair of dance boots do you have? she says 5 pair. I'm like.. How many pairs can you wear at one time? You don't need new dance boots"
It didn't work.
The compromise was I cut my fleet in half, but if she wanted new country dance clothes, I could get a new plane.
Wish I had space to store it but I don't. I'd love to put an engine like that in a kit car, like the old time Fiberfab Valkyrie or a Marcos GT. " So many dreams, so little where with all". My M28/11 engine has numbered M 28/11 82D0515 so it's a little 'older' than yours. GLWS

Well, it looks like the engine is headed to the east coast... Now comes the fun part- removing it from the chassis.

The engine is definitely a pure Euro but the transmission has a US VIN (partial from what remained on the sticker that I could see).

I've never pulled an engine before so hopefully it only takes me 3 hours...

It'll take you more than 3 hours, since you'll have accessories, an A/C compressor, other crap in the engine compartment to remove, etc. There's no trophy for fast, the purchaser of the engine will appreciate your careful, slow, approach.

The previous owner stripped everything related to HVAC out of the car before I got it. It's pretty free and clear between the front of the engine and the electric fans he installed. We shall see...
