Default Hatch release cycles..yet does not open the hatch..

Insert is newish, top receiver is not cracked.

It cycles ones and stops, but does not _open_ the hatch.

Convert to a VW opener - works every time... Or just adjust it - loosen two bolts on the central support and slide motor mount up or down (probably up).

Yes I had this problem; some combination of adjusting the motor position, greasing the latch assembly and fixing any cracks in the insert should do the trick.

I found that a piece of duct tape along the rear surface of the insert worked for a few months until I got a new insert put in.

If the nylon bush in the arm has broken up you can see this issue. I have made brass bushes to fix this.

Here is the VW unit detail: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...eferrerid=6055

Or if the available adjustment range doesn't help - wrap some nylon zip ties (smooth side out) - around the release cam - as many as will fit would be even better...

Alan, I read your write-up on this before. One question I had was, is there a benefit to locating the motor using stand-offs rather than hard mounting flush directly to an angle bracket? Thanks.

For me the stand-offs were to allow the actuator arm to be captive between the bracket & the VW motor body - a different approach would be to offset the motor & bracket more and have the actuator arm to the other side of the bracket - but my approach seemed most obvious to me - and has the advantage of keeping the bracket from coming off the plunger.

This may be too simple a solution to solve a Porsche problem. My latch release would run, but the hatch didn't open. I inserted a strip of rubber gasket material under the rear edge of the latch frame on the hatch. This angled the latch a little closer to the release device, and it was enough to release the hatch (see picture).

another suggestion along the lines of what Ralph suggested is to use a piece of zip tie along the rear edge of the upper latch.
BUT the best thing is to follow Alans idea and put 3 zip ties around the finger this will make the latch open every time.

Just to clarify, when you say ' does not open', do you mean the hatch remains latched and will not open at all, or it just will not pop up but can be lifted up?

I've used the zip tie business for years now. Had to replace them a few weeks ago for they had worn down and ruptured. Still works the same though - hit the switch, hear the release, get out of the car, close the door with a little force and the hatch pops up. I've gotten used to it now, but I think Alan's VW thing is going on the list.

This also how mine functions, I have replaced the receiver liner, and have new shock/lift supports, but the hatch seal is old and week, I wonder if a new seal could give enough pressure to pop it up?.

There is a nylon bush in the lever from the motor to the opening arm, which has been known to break up and fall out, meaning the arm does not move enough to release the latch. These are ~ 5mm ID, 7mm OD , and I have some made of brass on hand. They can hold the lever to the arm with a 2-56 screw with a little work.
Question still unanswered above - does the latch open, but the hatch not pop up, OR does the latch NOT open at all??
