I've tried different methods and it still ends up in a long drawn out process, although most enjoyable source of entertainment and research, but what is the most direct way to locate specific info for ?'s I have without redundant posts?

Nothing is perfect, and this includes the Search function. You can try using (") around your well thought out search terms, but it still requires sifting through them. I have found the reading through my searches teaching me about things other than what I was seeking. Eventually you usually find what you need.
Then there is always posting a question thread. Either way you'll get there.

If everything was solved via a search..and it worked..we'd have nothing to talk about.

Just ask.

I tend to use Google more than the search function here on RL. That said, I still ask a lot of questions

Using the format in the screen shot below, you can get some good results. Throw specific terms in quotes and it gets even better.

Use the Search function but specify 'By Title Only' to get more relevant results.

Like Ryan, I always search from google.

I'm working on creating a Chrome Extension for it so I can be really lazy and search whenever a 928 thought comes to mind...I'll share to the forum once its done and tested.

Descriptive Titles would go a long way in making this sites search a lot more functional. (-:

^^^ Amen! Way too many "anybody seen this before?" titles with no relationship to whatever it is we've seen several times before. And that's the hidden value of search -- find stuff that we've seen before.
