I am using the short MB ones in #30, and she is smooth as silk up to 80mph. That's as fast as I was willing to let the wheels spin with her on the lift bars.

Although never on the road, my experience is all positive with the shorter injectors.

You'll really get it that quick on the bars? I've been hesitant to just run the engine out of fear.

no CIS experience but for my '85, i tested and sent them off to WitchHunter. Did the same for my old 951. Came back nice and clean. Had to paint them myself though.

Default injectors

With all the talk of both 'short MB injectors' and 'test with 9v batteries', which would be mutually exclusive, its still unclear to me if this car is CIS or L-jet ? Can OP please clarify?

jp 83 Euro S AT 56k very CIS.

81 Euros (up to and including 83) are all K Jet which means CIS.

Default injectors

Be helpful if everybody knew that and avoided confusing the OP with talk of applying 9v batteries to lumps of steel, or brass. Surely there is somebody in USA who can flush CIS injectors, hopefully cheaper than the cost of MB units - but if not, buy a set of the MBs - the brass will look very good until they build up some patina.
On ebay now at $200 a set of 8=$25 each. Hard to beat at that. Part no 0437502047 - thats an Ozzie mobile phone no!

We sell tons of the shorter alternative MB CIS injectors with zero issues.
My price is $34 ea. about $10 ea. cheaper than the originals.
Change out the rubber sleeve as well - the metal sleeve should be OK if you remove carefully.

The OP car is most definitely CIS.
Thanks.

sorry for adding a testing/ pickling technique to a CIS injector,

NOTE this info was for the electrically operated injectors.
That Uneekone has in his 84 Euro engine

Roger, regarding the stated price of short MB injectors, are they with the rubber and alum sleeves, or do they use those from old replaced injectors taken out of the engine?

I am also interested in what people's recommendations to this. Rebuild with completely new sleeves "rubber, o rings, alum" for ~$300 or new MB set?

The injectors are just the brass tubes. If you've got time, take them all apart, carefully, and buy the rubber bushes and metal sleeves as needed. They aren't little "o-rings" as you might picture them. The sleeve may be stuck and twisting on the injectors too hard will ream out the hex hole in the sleeve.

The confusion resides on my shoulders. My '84 is an L-jet. I was just posting for fun as my comments should have had no bearing on Dan's decision making process...
