I would install this in a heart beat.... I want the double din, and I know how dis functional the factory vent is but I still want to use it... so I could totally see the factory vent system on the top, with a double din below and this AC setup as shown... the perfect combo of past and future !

Cool stuff, keep the updates coming! BTW, could you explain a little more about the fan speed control? Looks like a lot of speed settings, is that compatible with our existing blower motors?

WOW! I want one. Nothing cleaner and simpler looking than this 3 **** design. GREAT choice. Keep us posted.

I'd be inclined to delete the warning/AC/Central lock strip too... seems it will look out of place now and you no longer need the AC button. Easy to find a neater stand alone seatbelt warning indicator and central locking switch...?

has to be a switch out there that has a separate light/switch function.

Tom,
The fan speed uses PWM - this controls a fan amplifier to run the motor. The fan amp needs to be installed into the airflow after the blower motor to keep cool. The 2005 Altima fan amp I have is pretty long, so won't fit where the stock resistor pack is, but still looking for one that will, trying to keep this as neat and clean as possible.

Alan,
I'll think about that. It would mean less space limitations for my board design if the standard warning strip was gone, but sourcing switches with the proper logo and function could be a challenge.

Hella has a nice, self contained hi-side PWM output device. You need to make sure that the output device is hi-side if you want to retain the factory wiring.

That is a very compact size - can it handle our blower fan needs? Volts and Amps look fine, but any other things to worry about?

Well its been a while since I posted about this, but the progress has been huge. After several design iterations, I have finally settled on using just the *****/buttons from the Sentra control head, and mounting these onto a new board, then having the outputs controlled with an Arduino Nano chip. This gives the most control flexibility - just turn On/Off sections of the code, recompile/load it and run. The goal is to make this as plug-and-play as possible in the 928 harness, with only the fan Amplifier needing some install and splicing at this stage of design. The 2 AMP connectors on the original head will connect to extensions from this new unit - no splicing. Some other features being setup are RGB general lighting, user selectable with jumpers, and PWM controlled dimming - either from onboard PWM based on the stock dash dimmer control, or from a stand alone PWM control, also user selectable. There will be an extra output relay on the board, and small space for user mods, so one could program a custom function using the Nano. Another user jumper feature is able to ignore the stock inside and outside temp sensors, so if one (or both) is bad, this control can still do the job of controlling the setting motor.
So, with a breadboard version partially working, started building a functional test board that can be connected to my car and see if it all behaves like it should (note - the real board will have the ***** in a row). Progress continues.....

Awesome.
How about replacing the heater control valve with an electrically modulated one?

The electric water valve is a possibility. I can get Thermotion valves and controllers to test on.
