This is my car.
R.Pires -I have never owned an S4 excuse my ignorance I didn't notice the missing jump cover but it makes sense the car did sit for a long time and has the typical electrical gremlins. The previous owner didn't know what he was doing nor his shop. I have had all the work done by Motorsports in SLC. I don't have the expertise or confidence to do major repairs so I had them do it.
whiteNSXs - I was told the 89 S4 automatics have a different gear ratio than the other S4s autos making it a bit quicker than other S4 autos. Just stating what I have read on here. Sorry, I wasn't trying to mislead or anything. I'll post a video of 0-60 soon.
I decided to not list it on Rennlist because I didn't want to offend anyone because of my reasons for selling.
I had the choice between this green S4 and a yellow old body. And I took the advice of the forum to buy the best example newest model you can afford. So I went with the S4. Needless to say I am not as happy with it as I thought. I liked my 79 that I use to have more for it's peculiar 70s style interior and body. This I figured might bring up some contention on Rennlist that I didn't want to deal with.
But here it is anyway, I am not the typical age range for the 928 being a younger millennial and the 70s 928 models are somewhat extraterrestrial to me. They are nothing what I would have imagined to have come out of the 70s. So advance, classic style, unique interiors and colors. This charm is what draws me to them. Of course I know that now after experiencing the S4. After getting rid of my 79 5 years ago, I waited and saved up the finances to buy a 928. So I bought the S4 because I could afford to. I am well aware that you never get your money back with these cars. I have more in the car than I am even asking on ebay. But putting more money into a car I don't want to keep is crazy. I rather put those resources into an OB 928. Losing thousands to move down to a lower model 928 may seem crazy as well. But I really like the OB better. Although flying over 150mph in the S4 through the Utah desert for the summer or bending through the canyons in Utah was a lot of fun!
All that being said, the car runs really well and has low mileage. But the theme of the car seems to be electrical corrosion, seems like everyday I encounter something electrical giving me grieve, although it's minor stuff like both seats worked when I first got it but now both need new switches or mirror motor going out. I could fix these issues but then I would be out both time and money on a car I am selling. I rather offer it at a discount for someone that wants a deal and is willing to put some work in.
I also want to state I have no anger or resentment towards the advice stated on Rennlist. The advice and resources on here are extremely useful and beneficial to me. I just have realized I like the 928 for a different reason than the majority of owners on Rennlist.

Please don't get me wrong, the absence of the jump post cover is something like a joke here on Rennlist, is one of the first things people here comment, the presence or absence of the cover!!
It doesn't mean a car that as always used the cover could not also have electrical gremlins.
Anyway is a very nice car good luck with the sale!

A preference for the OB style is nothing to be ashamed of, not I'd it something rare. You'll have plenty of company!

I'm betting you'll do well with this sale. I find it interesting that you are willing to sacrifice the higher performance after having experienced it. That makes me feel better about my 1981. Any thoughts about moving to a newer 928 get damped when I realize I really don't need any better performance at my age.

Ricardo- Thanks! I honestly appreciate you pointing it out, I added it to the listing. I believe in being upfront about anything I sell. I've been burned in the past and it sucks.
Steve- No offense taken, I appreciate it, I agree I love the 928s for the look. I've only seen two S4s in person prior to purchasing this car and passed on them both, they aren't common in Utah. I thought with the lack of DOT side markers and rear bumpers that I would love the look of this S4. I changed out the orange lens and put on bigger wheels. It does look nice but it's not the same as an OB to me. I am glad that I am not alone, thanks! It does look like some good bids are coming in, thanks for your support.
Brad- The higher performance was amazing! At one point I needed to slow down for a car in front of me and I slowed down a ton and realized I was still going 100. It's amazing how these cars fly so effortlessly. But not everyone is in need of that performance like you said and I fall into that category where going that fast is fun but not necessary.
Jeff- Thanks! Love the picture, I quote risky business in the car all the time. My passengers aren't amused probably because they aren't familiar with the film.

As for the gear ratio, you are actually on to something. For the US version, from 87-88, the rear ratio was 2.20:1, and the Euro was 2.54, thus providing a bit more acceleration from a standing start. Starting in 89, all 928's around the world condensed onto one ratio at 2.54.
So, technically, your acceleration will be a bit more brisk in comparison to the US 87-88 model, but the same as all other 89 cars out there. The engine ratings were the same for all years of the auto trans S4.

One of our taller drivers would appreciate the no sunroof, and I would appreciate it just because I don't like them. As much as I despise ebay, I guess it's a large audience, so I hope you get your price. If I didn't have about 9 cars in various states of disrepair, I'd be bidding.

Good luck with sale. You are in good company with the OB. I have driven an 88, and preferred the feel of the 78-79 driving...felt more "raw" to me.

I guess that's what happens when you copy and paste specs from a site. haha
Thanks Docmirror for the gear ratio explanation, I heard something about it but I didn't know the specifics.
I'm only 5'8" so I am pretty sure it's against forum rules for me to have a non-sunroof S4.
Ron- Thanks! I agree the older cars feel a little bit more raw, I know of three Talbot yellow cars that I am interested. I am hoping none of them have been snatched up yet.

I share your affinity for the OB; when looking to purchase my 928 the newer body style was not even a consideration. While the later cars seem to have more presence in pictures, I find I prefer the earlier cars in person.
