Lol. I should dig up pics of mine. The lobes were in great shape with over 200k miles.
By now, most GTs probably have cam lobes worn flatter than stock S4.

That passive oil cooler wasn't the best idea they had...especially for city traffic conditions. (GTS cams wear like GT cams, also.)

All about rpms and oil temperature. If the car rarely got run in the "over 5,000 rpm range" and spent most of its life on the open road (passing air through the oil cooler), the cams will show much less wear.

Wow, current bid at $9800! For a clapped out '89 GT? Is this an isolated event or an indication of where the market for these cars is going?
Back in June 2013 when I bought my car it was listed several times on ebay. It never met the reserve. The last time it was listed the reserve was at $15k. I ended up buying it for $12k. It had 134k and needed none of the work that this car needs. The paint is 7-8/10. The interior is a 8-9/10. The only major non-orignal parts were brand new Cup II wheels, a GTS rear bumper cover and S4 rear muffler, but no evidence of a rear end collision past the bumper cover. I did have to pull the engine for a rebuild, but I'm pretty sure I caused that by over filling the oil then driving it on a track causing the rings to stick in the pistons and lose compression. I don't think it was a pre-existing condition. The engine ran great for 2 years. The cams are near perfect and the inside of the engine is the cleanest I've ever seen.
I don't understand how this car can bring $10k+ and mine was bought for $12k only 2 years ago unless the market is going up and interest increasing significantly. I know I got a deal, but it's looking more and more like I stole it.

I'd hazard to say that any 89 GT under $15k (that doesn't have a salvage title) is a good deal..if not a steal.
And yes, two years ago is a huge difference. Hold on to it..bring it back to stock...and you'll appreciate the increase in price

I am mystified by the how much somebody is will to pay for a car that has clearly been un-cared for, has significant body damage and some signs of a engine fire in its past - never mind the mileage cannot be anywhere near what is on the ODO.
