If you can use MAP gas and do some basic silver soldering....

I can send you a -6 steel fitting that you can silver solder onto that existing steel line.....you will simply need to disconnect it from the fuel source in the rear, clean it out, pull it up enough to be able to heat it without burning anything else, and silver solder on the fitting. I can even send you the super trick silver solder to do the job with.

I can then make you a front fuel line that is a bit longer than my standard replacement hose (after you tell me how far in back of the rusted solid connection you cut it.)

Super easy.

You other alternative is to just put rubber fuel line with clamps over the barbed fittings designed for plastic line:

1. If I was stuck in the middle of the Sahara with a leaking fuel line and this was the only way to get out....I'd do it....until I got to the first town that had UPS service.

2. You have to be able to keep in mind that you can search for the rest of your life and not find a single rubber hose manufacturer that will even suggest that this is a good idea...but there are people on Rennlist, smarter than all of those engineers at the rubber hose manufacturers, that say it works fine and is the perfect application.

3. If you ignore all the engineers that say this is a bad idea, make sure than you obtain a rubber hose with a very tough (hard) inner liner....do not use a rubber hose that has that the softer inner liner, which is so common today. (Most of the fuel line made in the US has the soft inner liner. Most of the fuel line that you can buy at auto parts stores is made in the US. Most of the fuel line that is made in Germany has a harder inner liner.)

4. A rubber fuel line over barbs made for plastic isn't all a bad idea.....if you have a vehicle that is a POS, has two tires already in the junk yard, you really don't care about, or if you have the car over insured.

5. Don't seat belt anyone into a car with this repair that you love......especially if they can't get the seat belt off by themselves, in a panic situation. It is going to have a fuel fire and burn. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will. It's the wrong application!

But also super easy.

Hi Rob, thanks for those pictures with the line explanations. They are on topic, and I am sure they will also be incredibly useful to me some time in the future. Do you have a paypal account to take contributions? :-) John
