I can bring my Theo tool as well if anyone needs to reset an airbag light... etc.
Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday. I cant leave Indy before 3:30 (closer to 4 more likely), so let me know when you guys start wandering towards the Landing.

Anyone close to Chicago or taking 94 to Hell. Id be more comfortable taking the trip with a support vehicle. Drove it 2 hours straight yesterday. So far so good but help would be great.

Water craft update:
Jet boat is not running correctly (35mph at 4500rpm, should be 55mph at 6000rpm). Worked on it most of the day yesterday with no luck. Therefore, no tubing/water skiing this weekend. We still have:
Pontoon boat, 2 jet skis, 2 kayaks, and one paddle boat, so bring your wet ones.
See everyone in Hell either Friday evening or Saturday.

Well my plans didn't quite come together right. Vanagon crankshaft is sitting on the table in front of me and the 928 hasn't been notched since the fire. I'll be home wrenching. Have fun folks! Maybe I can make it next year.

Anyone planning, or able, to offer R12 A/C recharges? I'm still seeing what's-what with the '88 since reviving it from its nearly 5 year slumber, and non-cooling A/C is one, exacerbated by a ferocious heat emanating from the center console. I almost died from heat exhaustion driving it yesterday.

Sounds good! Regarding the heat, I had replaced the oft blamed motor mounts not long before I parked it, so they are not likely the cause.
I did have mice shacked up in the car pretty good, though, so I'm wondering if they didn't nibble away the foam surround that insulates the shift linkage where it enters the cabin.
I'm not keen to drop the TT to access it, not only because it's a pretty good sized job, but I recall TT removal being suspect in thrust bearing wear.
I'm trying to suss another possible culprit which I've read in a FAQ tHread described as a "toilet bowl flap" or somesuch up front being inop. Do you know what that could be?

Oh, and my local shop, Arbor Motion here in Ann Arbor quoted $745 for the A/C conversion, which I'd like to do, but I really want to sort both the heat problem and what seem to be wonky vacuum actuators for the climate control flaps before throwing down for the full refrigerant conversion, just to avoid being disappointed if the A/C can't deal with what might be multiple sources of hot air ingress.
A less expensive R12 recharge is preferred at this point.
