Default Seat Motor Swap How To

My PS motor that controls the front up and down is dead. I applied power directly to it and get nothing in either direction. I want to swap it for a known good one.

I did a search and came up dry.

It looks like there are a pair of phillips head screws and a wire clamp that hold it in place.

Can anybody point me to a write up?

I'm going to ask a real dumb/basic question here:

What's the best procedure to apply power directly to the motor in a situation like this ?

I've got the exact same situation and want to test if the motor even works before I work on taking it out for repair or replacement.

There are two connectors at the motor. I use my charger to test in one direction and then the other. If the motor works then attach twelve volts to the red and black wires at the seat harness. If the seat does not move it is the switch

And if I don't have a charger? Could I just run wires (almost like jumper cables ) from the battery to the motor points to achieve the same?

Removing the motor entails removing the two screws that hold it to the seat frame, undoing the metal clip that secures the screw drive to the motor and then pulling the screw drives from the sides of the motor. You will need a small ratcheting Phillips screw driver to get to the screws insitu.
