Running Rich, MAF?

Burning Brakes
Fraggle, I just replaced my TPS to address at least a portion (over fueling) of your issues. The TPS is pretty easy to diagnose without having to "get into it". You can do that by checking continuity on the LH connector. See that thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...iagnostic.html
My TPS was non-responsive at Idle or WOT.

TPS checked out a year or two ago when I had the OC's mega PC scanner/monitor.
I'm leaning toward the multiple issues problem, dampers failing + aging MAF and a little LH age thrown in, because one thing never fails alone on my car.
Tomorrow I'll do some troubleshooting. Work keeps getting in the way!

Wellllll. Derp.
Fuel dampers are fine, all hold vac really well.
The vac line that goes to the charcoal canister actuator is not connected.
Yes, the one that connects to the top of the throttle body under the intake.
Intake is off, I'm going to redesign all the lines that are under there so they can stay in a fixed and undisturbed location while putting the intake back on and off.
Last time I was in there I extended the wiring harnesses, so at least they will be easy to plug back in.
Hope it goes back together without inducing a new issue. Good news is I've alreadt got all 8 intake washers and spacers. They've got a hell of a habit of dropping down into the heads.

Funny you should say that, Matt.
I pulled the motor out of the van a couple weeks ago for a reseal. It was leaking so much oil it left a solid trail around my neighborhood. Everything is getting pulled, cleaned and refinished. Working on the Vanagon is fun - the parts are stupid cheap.

Remember our conversation about your awesome Vanagon and Frenzy..
Lower it
Adding power + lowering weight
Paint it gulf blue with color matched beer cooler for Frenzy
Add fat rear tires on those affordable for VW re pop classic Fuchs
(powder coated orange of course)
Comfortable 928 front captain's chair
w pasha trimmed custom rear seating, disco ball etc..
Man that would be fun to do..
If only we were neighbors..

Yeah nothing beats easy to work on and cheap parts. VW's are great for that.
