Default Question about the interior lights relay. [86.5S]

First the good news.Ive traced a voltage loss issue to the interior lights but...The lights wont switch themselves off after the doors are locked and the only way to stop the loss is by removing the fuse. Is the auto shutoff controlled by the relay?

On the '86.5, does that relay cause the lights to stay on after you remove the key and until you open the doors? Because on mine, that does not happen. I thought that was the purpose of this relay, but everything works fine in terms of lights on when I open the doors, off when I close them...I have none of these other problems I've seen people report....but there is no delay function with mine, at all.

Working correct the lights should stay on for 15 seconds or so, if locked with key before 15 seconds it will turn lights off.

Might be worth opening up the old relay and attempting a repair?
