Default WTB: Cheap wheels

I'm looking for a set of cheap wheels to put on a rolling chassis. Anyone know of a wheel that will fit these cars, maybe something in a fine rusted steel finish? At first I thought I'd try buying some old steel spares but found out they're ridiculously expensive (why didn't I guess?).

Any ideas?

16 inch 7 slots are your best bet, they pop up a lot and go for cheap. Otherwise you can hunt around for a set of Panamera rims, I've seen them go for $300 on craigslist. So there are a few options out there.

16" Manholes. Every so often a set pops up for free.

I know Hacker took a set off his 88 and said he had so many of them that he was going to hang one of them on the side of his house for a hose rack.

Are 16" 7 slots the same as manholes?

Sorry to say I'm a long way from Georgia, shipping would cost more than the wheels I expect but I appreciate the offer. Right now I'm in central California near Saratoga.

After the two earlier comments about cheap wheels I may just give up on the whole idea since the car has manhole covers on it now and I was thinking about saving them to use as a spare set for my other car. Now I know people give them away I may reconsider I'd like to keep them since I can use them but it wouldn't make any sense to buy another set. I thought there might be something a little more basic out there.

That might just do it. Let me get a shipping quote from UPS. I'll get the weight off the web, those are 16"s right?

That's not an entirely bad idea. It could go well with the 944 engine block coffee table I saw this morning...

I have a set of scratched but decent Turbo Twist 18x8 and 18x11 wheels from a 2003 C4S. I used them on my 1987 S4 for a while. No tires. You can have them for $300. I am in San Francisco and can meet you in South San Francisco.

Thanks Steve, you've just changed my thinking a little, like maybe what I really need is a set of track wheels for my 944

Even though they're scratched up they might be in better shape than what I need to keep the parts car off its knees while I strip the rest of the usable stuff off it. Your offer is going to sit in the back of my head gnawing at me though...
