There is nothing wrong with the engine that I'm aware of but I have not driven it yet.
Maybe tomorrow I'll take it for a spin and report back

After talking with Mark I have decided to pass on grabbing this machine.
From the info provided it has leaks more than mechanical issues.
Someone else closer should consider this project

Looks like that '87 shouldn't be a hopeless basket case. (Assuming no flavor of TBF.)
It isn't like the Six Million Dollar Man right after the crash.
I understand, though, why, now that it is at Mark's, that it's an organ donor.
Some must die so that others can live.
What I'm really curious about though is the path that brought it to Mark?
Estate sale? PO - not a real 928 lover - told his shop to get rid of it when he saw the estimate for fixing leaks? Mechanics lean after the leaks were fixed doesn't seem logical.
Call it morbid curiosity.

Son in law car breaks down
Father in law gives him his 928 that hasn't been driven in years.
After several expensive repair bills, son in law bails after estimate to repair several leaks including a trans leak onto the exhaust that is dangerous
That's about it
