Default What have you been offered?

What have you been offered for your car?

What were the circumstances, or location?

Have you ever been offered anything by someone, just to go for a ride/drive?

No prizes, but looking for some great stories on what it you've been offered for your 928s, either way

And if you said no to any offers, why?

Previous owner of my 79 (who actually owned it twice before) offered me a bit over $14k last summer.

Not enough for any that I still have and just the right amount for the ones that I already sold.

I had a fellow offer to buy my 85 for 15k back in early 2013 at a Tim Hortons. At the time I had just finished restoring her and was not interested in selling. The guy gave me his business card and told me to call him if I ever decided to sell, I kept it for several months.

In August of that year I cleaned out my car and chucked it in the garbage. Two weeks later I stumbled across an 87 5spd and pulled the trigger.

Now I was going to sell the 85 but no longer had is card.

I ended up selling the 85 for 13k 3 after 4 months of having it listed. Only one guy came to look at in 4 months, and he purchased it on the spot.

So the moral of the story is never throw out info for any possible buyers, you never know when you might need it.

I've been asked a few times at car shows if I wanted to sell mine. Never given a number though and my response has always been "Not yet. I enjoy it too much right now"

Two guys have given me their business cards in case I changed my mind. I know I kept one of them. Not sure where the other business card went.

It's always nice to know that there is enough interest that someone would offer to buy it.

But, I'm not sure what I would do if someone offered a number I couldn't or shouldn't refuse......

$7700 until I took him up on the offer, then it disappeared real quick.

Guy came on here looking for an S4 around $7k. we chatted, I gave him a firm price, he said he wants my car, even though I pointed out a few other examples similarly priced, or lower. I get back to him later, and poof! gone. Advised him I was still improving, and if he didn't buy it was going up. It's now gone up.

I've had a rash of people thinking the 928 should be a $5k car. Surprised to hear it's more, actually...

I had mine for sale for a few days on local Craigslist, then pulled it. A guy had read the ad and called, understood the car was no longer for sale, but asked if he could see it and go for a ride for reference. I agreed thinking it is actually a good idea for anyone considering buying a 928 to have seen and driven several before buying. I can't recall what I was asking (Maybe $14.5K). After spending about an hour with me and going over the car he said "Your price was too low. It's worth $16K today, and if you keep it another 18 months it might be worth $18K." That's the closest I've been to a offer.

I've had several gas station "How much you want for it?" incidents. In those instances I had other business to do and just said it wasn't for sale.

Ah Yea right....guy was an "expert" . anyone who thinks they can predict future values must have one fine crystal ball.....nice that you spent your time educating him but hardly an offer or indicative of value.

Never had an offer for my 928. But I get offers all the time, and notes under the wiper for my 84 El Camino, and my 87 Monte Carlo Aero Coupe. None are for sale at this time.

The Porsche Museum offered me $15k for my #1 928. Their offer was declined.

I offered $35k for red Geneva show car - sight-unseen, no questions asked. My offer was declined.
