1994 Porsche 928 GTS for sale - TENTATIVELY SOLD
Today is your day if you are looking to buy a 1994 928 (first year of the upgrade improvements in the GTS model).
Well, TODAY was a great day for the new owners, and I am so happy with the communications we've had in the past 24 hours. I believe they will be great members of the 928 community in the near and distant future. They just joined 928 OC about 6 weeks ago.
I've decided Ferry Porsche is right - "our cars are meant to be driven, not polished" (and this one is well polished!). Clean CarFax, clear title, no incidents. Kevin Michael (renowned 928 re-finisher of Winning Finishes) refinished hood, drivers door and exterior mirrors 4 years ago, and I don't think there is a single chip in the paint anywhere. These panels were not damaged in any way, but had some chips in the paint that 'bugged' me. After the refinishing, Kevin lightly wet sanded the clear coat on the whole body with 3000 grit paper and hand polished the resulting glass like surfaces. I just have not been driving this GTS as much as it should be driven over the past 2-3 years, averaging about 1500 miles per year. Thus, I've decided it should provide the fabulous enjoyment to a new caretaker that it has brought me for 9 years.
Briefly - I'm the second owner. First owner - very wealthy Texas philanthropist, member of U of T Business School Hall of Fame, and president of the family owned oil company - drove it for 12 years and 58K miles. Always garaged at home and office. I've driven it 23K miles since arriving home with it in Jan 2006. Always garaged here as well.
I'll post 5 pictures (you all know why the 5th picture is posted! - ha). I have another 75 or so, and will be glad to provide them, along with a summary of service records to any who are interested. I'll post a few more as the days go by. Just send me your e-mail address via either e-mail or PM, and let me know what you'd like to see. The VIN ends in 156, so it has the OE cup II wheels (included) and the upgraded 2R connecting rods.
The car has lots of modifications, but essentially all are easily reversible, as I kept nearly all the items I removed.
Service and maintenance is impeccable. Captearl of Rennlist 928 fame and I pulled the engine in early '06, replaced all rubber/plastic parts, replaced all gears on front of the engine, did timing belt, water pump, knock sensors, powder coated intake, cam covers, etc. etc. Installed Porken timing belt tensioner 3 years ago with second timing belt (Gates) & NEW water pump. I doubt there are more than a half dozen GTS's in the US that have been as well maintained as this one over it's entire service life.
I have all records from 1996 when the original owner started using an independent shop. The owner of that shop told me the 'cost' of any service wanted or required was never even discussed - the owner just told him to 'do it' (he spent ~$40K in maintenance there over 10 years). I also have the original MSRP window sticker (tad over $93K). Records from his 2 year warranty period by the Momentum Porsche in Houston should be available, but I've not thought they were needed.
It has the much improved '94/95 transmission shifting module. This is a significant improvement vs. the the '87-88 automatic S4's I've owned.
Hope 'TONKA' makes a new caretaker as happy as it has made us (a new reflector without TONKA is included in sale).
More information and pictures will be forthcoming.

One of the best GTSs out there for sure! Plus it has a very nice Jump Post Cover with a rare blue cap. That should add about $5k!!
Sad to see you selling it Gary, but I hope you get what you are asking AND you still come to the GTGs (Frenzy, Hershey and PVGP) We would miss you much more than your beautiful car!

Ditto exactly what Rick said! Great car, and a greater caretaker of it over these years.

Rick,
Thanks for the 'invite'. I DO NOT plan to 'leave' the 928 community, as long as the 928 community will allow me to attend various events.
The 928 community is undoubtedly the BEST car community there is!!! THANKS to all you guys for the great inspiration and assistance over the past 16 years that I've been a part of this great group.

Newbie here in the Porsche community, and Gary was generous enough to invite a total stranger over to his house and talked 928 last week. The car is even more amazing in person. Remember, you are buying a car that has been taken cared of by 2 legendary 928 people, Gary and Earl. A true and true gentleman! The next owner is going to be very lucky! GLWS

For those not familiar with this car, it's among the best GTS examples I've seen. Price is great for this car, IMHO. Someone is going home with a Very Nice Car!
