Hi Guys,
Thank you so much for your kind words about Thor, words can't express what it means to us at this time. Even more so the way everyone treated him and looked out for him over all the years. You all made him feel part of the family and is something I will never forget, and I could never thank you all enough for that.
One of my fears in the back of my head when we found out he had cancer in January was that he might not be around for SITM. Honestly I didn't even think I could do, or even go to SITM without him. But I know (or so I am told) that life goes on. Yeah it is gonna be pure hell this year, but knowing Jeannie and I will be surrounded by so many people that touched his life makes us feel we will be better able to get though it.
Barry, I never thought that much about it, but you are right, he did become sort of a 928 "mascot" over the years. Heck, after being to 11 Sharks in the Mountains and 9 928 Frenzys, plus many more 928 Events and Gatherings over a decade, he has probably attended more 928 events than the majority of 928 owners. Funny, you mentioned his "human-like" personality, that is so true he was no doubt a "people person" and was always so excited to see everyone each year, so much so I think he really thought the 928 events were about everyone coming to see him. I could tell he always thought he was one of the gang, and he certainly was.
Just so everyone knows, his spirit was high and he was a very happy boy right to the end, see pic below from March 11th 3 days before he left us. The day after that (March 12th), we had a great Birthday Day together (we were born on same day) playing and swimming in the pool with each other. We ended that day with friends and family coming over for our Birthday Party and Thor gobbled up his boned shaped Birthday Cake Jeannie made for him. Thor was 11 and me 56, it was a wonderful blessed day with him and was all I wanted for my birthday this year ever since hearing the dreaded "C" word.. That night I even told him our next milestone was we had to make it to SITM together.
The next day (Friday) he was a little slow but I had assumed he would be after the busy day we had the day before. But even then his ears were still straight up and his spirit was just as high. That afternoon I made an appointment with our vet for Monday just to make sure we couldn't do more to keep him going strong and happy. Sadly late Friday night into early Saturday morning he started having some signs of respiratory distress related to the lymphoma swelling the lymph nodes on his neck. They had been steadily getting larger over the months as the vet told us would happen. We rushed him to the nearest Emergency Vet early Saturday morning but by then he could hardly force air in and out and had a fever of 108 degrees. It happened too fast and they worked to make him comfortable so we could say our goodbyes. With a sedative to relax him he passed peacefully in mine and Jeannie's arms a little later that morning.
Jeannie and I never had kids (2-legged ones) and Thor was and is the closest thing we will ever get to know what it feels like to have a son and are trying our best to focus on Celebrating the time we had with him (easier said than done). I have put together a Google Picasa Photo album and YouTube Playlist of some of the highlights of our lives with him along with many of you. It was hard to narrow down to the best pics out of the thousands we have of him, plus a lot more from many of you, especially the pics from Ernest Wong. In the end there are around 150, but I think it will be worth it to see them all and read the captions I wrote. Hopefully this will make some of you that knew him so well smile and laugh a little as we try to celebrate his life...and boy did he have a wonderful life, and in no small part because of knowing many of you guys and girls.

I apologize for the sad tone this has had on the beginning of the Sharks in the Mountains thread, I hoped it would not have happened the way it did. SITM has always been about the Happy Celebration of our 928 friends and family and will always continue to be about that… even during those years when we come together to share the loss of one of our fallen 928ers, and celebrate having known them in our lives.
All our love to our friends, we look more forward than ever to seeing you at Sharks in the Mountains 2015,
David and Jeannie.

Very Heartfelt Dave, I teared up a little as my pups are my world as well.
Last year was my first attendance of SITM and I feel Very fortunate that I got to meet Thor, though are paths only crossed once I will Always have a fond memory of him with his chin resting on his ball.
RIP Thor.

David and Jeannie, thank you so much for sharing that. All of us who have had a friend like Thor in our lives understand what it means to lose them. SITM this year will be a lot about him. Which means fun, because he sure had a lot of it with this gang!

Very sorry to hear of your loss Dave. Thor was indeed a very special friend to all of us who had the pleasure to meet him. He was the Ambassador of SITM, and was always outgoing to anyone he encountered, and loved to play fetch.
Here are Ernest's three pics of Thor with Jeannie's GT, including your avatar pic. Also one I took of him on break during SITM '08.
