Transmission removal on a automatic. But now that I've done it three times I've got it down to three hours. But I still have a small leak even with my rebuilt unit. So number four is on the horizon. I must have nicked the torque converter seal . Follow that with the blower motor and recirc door removal. I don't like working upside down under the dash with my feet up over the sears

For me so far it was the hall sensor with the cam covers and everything else installed. So hateful for such a small bit.

Yeah, the hall sensor is another bastage. I did one with the bad connector and it took a ton of time to get it located. I finally loosened the motor mount bolts, and jacked up the right side to gain access. What a mess.

Three Wheelin'
Well for me the R/R of the transmission and torque tube for new bearings was a multi month adventure (in and out three times before I got it right), but the part that was the worst each time was getting the bellhousing bolt holes lined up (both at the flywheel and the torque tube), which involved me crawling under the car a dozen times plus times to jack up or lower the engine/tranny/torque tube. It always seemed SO close, perpetually a quarter inch one way or the other, and then when it came together an hour or two later it was like magic and I was beat to hell from hitting my head, scraping my knuckles and squashing my fingers. Fun times.

Dealing with the aftermath of an engine fire. Other than some hoses and cosmetic stuff from my intake refurb, it seems that I have relatively minor damage. Looks ugly though. will try to send photos. Putting together a list of parts to re-order. :-(

Hans and Franz get a failing grade for this little bit of engineering foolery!
I used every curse word in my vocabulary and even came up with a few new ones. AND I HAD THE ENGINE OUT! And it could have been made so simple just by running a hard line out past the brake booster.

I haven't had to do a whole lot on my car because of a great PO. Some of the things I have done that I was told was going to be a bitch seemed to go very easy for me. 1. Rear cam seals and door handle replacement.
The job that really kicked my *** though was replacing the T over the throttle body while the front and back intakes were still in place. After doing that about 10 times it became "easier".
What scares the **** out of me is repairing my in-op AC....

The A/C isn't that bad, it just takes time and patience to find every single little nut, bolt, and washer installed. And also a lot of vacuuming up leaves.
Another job that sucked was replacing the brake booster and master in a pre 84 car.
The bias valves mounted underneath the master make the job easily 10X as bad than on a later car.
You have to worry about breaking 6 hardlines that are hard to get to instead of 2 easy to get to ones on the later cars.

The oil pan gasket...because it should not be that hard...but if you have to do your motor mounts ...it a breeze.

The jobs are doable with tools and time. For the 928, it is and will always be the way every time you have something tight, it's also behind something sharp. and cosmoline. It was the most stupid thing porsche did.
