Default Assistance with pricing '84 Euro 5spd

Looking at possibly selling my Euro.
It has 27k miles with a tb/wp with porkensioner added, when I bought it in 2009. Probably 2k miles on them. Black interior and front seats are soft and pliable, backs are not, they need more prestine clean Dash has very slight crack at one of the vents. Replaced front plastic shift cup because sometimes difficult to get into neutral at a stop. No grinding, whatsoever. The cup helped this issue a lot, but could use the rear joint to be changed also. Rebuilt both CV axles and all soft fuel line in engine bay is R9. New clutch master and slave. Short shift shifter. Came with MSDS headers and dual adjustable FPR's. Installed oversized front swaybar from 928 Int'l with new bushings. 2k paint job (car stripped of all trim, bumpers and quarter windows), one year ago. Dark blue, same as it was previously. Some over spray on muffler and they painted around door locks even though I told them not too. Bilstein shocks with 17" cup wheels. The PO did change the "S" wing for an S4 tail. If you wanted to go back to original, probably easiest to get a new hatch and the small quarter panel wings from another car. Headlights are H4. Cruise control will accelerate by pulling on stalk, but will not hold speed. Windshield washer inop., though pump works. A/C converted to R134a and only blows hot or cold, needs relay changed, as documented on Rennlist. Much $$ spent with Roger, I have all invoices.

I know I haven't included any pics, but would like to get a few opinions on a fair price for it, as I have no idea.

Thanks

Hi,
I don't know exactly how much this may help you,
but last summer I bought my 1981 Euro/ROW 5 speed 928S for $6000.00
The PO had really sorted it out mechanically, and it has run very well since it has owned me.
No dash cracks, electrics worked with few glitches occasionally,
and I am in the process of a carpet color change and details here and there.
It's not showroom perfect, but its very solid, and fun to drive as I continue to sort it out.
Your car sounds great from the description, I don't think you'll have much trouble getting a good offer.
Good luck!!

Dan

FWIW the 84 /85 MAF 2.2 16V Euro cars are like the 89 GT cars in their demeanor,
once over 4K RPM the engines come alive.
Since you have the 5 speed this makes the car more valuable.
Based on the info provided and no pictures,
I would say your in the neighborhood of a 16K car.

If I understand your info the car has only 27K miles?
This should make it more valuable
But why the need for paint?
Pictures will tell the story , and of course lots of repair records will also add value

There's a big jump between the early "S" (300hp, K-jet) and the "S2" (LH 2.2 310hp rated).

There was one a couple years ago that went for a little under $14k.

More miles, but very, very nice shape.

At 27k miles, you should get a pretty solid price jump. The repaint & spoiler swap takes a lot away though.

GLWS.

If you really are interested in selling it, figure out the minimum that you'll accept and use that figure as the reserve on EBay. In 7 days, you will either not sell the car, or it will have sold for at least the minimum you wanted.

It really doesn't matter what the market is, what matters is how you will feel after parting with your car. Did you sell it for enough to overcome the seller's remorse in selling it?

I would put it on Brig a Trailer.com, they have an auction section. You may have a better chance there than ebay.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
I got into 928's because my Dad had an 83 Euro 5 spd. back in the mid 80's and I remember how great it was and the time I had taking it to prom. I bought a high mileage '87 S4 in the mid 2000's that had not been taken care of during it's lifetime, then came across the '84 in 2009. It was what I had really been wanting, after learning about the 928 since I had bought the S4. Anyway, I'll take some pics. and post it next week, it should go to an enthusiast. Or maybe I'll do the Ebay thing, I'm conflicted

Here's some pics I promised. I think I'll try that trailer website that was mentioned by namasgt earlier, seems like an interesting place to find, out of the norm cars. Also, lucky me, the A/C, which had been converted to R-134a was just down a can of refrigerant. Hasn't been used in probably 2 years. Topped it up, it's cold and the auto climate control is working fine
Current mileage is 27,200

Very nice looking Euro!

Are you sure it's an 84 and not an 85? Clues making me think it might be an 85 are the newer style seats and the shorter shift lever (and therefore having the Borg Warner synchros over the older style Porsche synchros).

I can't read the VIN clearly, but if it is ES..., that indicates an 84; if it is FS, then it's an 85, if I'm not mistaken.

Good catch with the short shifter, BRB! I actually got the short shifter and bushings from Roger when I got the car, I still have the original, long shifter.

Pic of the engine, you can see some over spray on the front of the bay and on the rear hood bumpers. And a closeup of the drivers seat.

You do realize that the original Euro odometer was in Km not miles ......which makes the odometer reading a big ???? a small part of the federalization process....which was always done differently by the various "labs" before they went out of business

That is true Jim! All I can say is what I see
Car is extremely tight, cam sprockets excellent (when tb changed), seats are almost perfect, dash just slight cracks. Totally different, compared to my '87 which had lots of miles before selling it. Also, importer went out of business in '86. So the Euro was brought in 2.5 years old or less, just a little baby

Don't know what happened to the pics I put up earlier.

Looking at picts I'm not getting a 27k mile vib. Respray and corrosion on the vin a big hit in value, but only a thorough PPI can give much of a real idea of value.

Yup, as previously stated, has been painted. Never said it was perfect. Looks to have been in Florida all its life. Previous owner in SW of the state, had it stored for many years while stationed overseas. This is the 4th 928 that's been in my family and it feels just as tight as the 44k '83 Euro my father sold in 1990.
I agree Onnianfage, I have been waffling back and forth for the last 6 mo. I'm planning on leaving the states for an extended period and know that if I put it up on blocks, it'll still be here when I get back, and unlike a new car, it won't depreciate. The other side says that I should sell it and let it go to a new owner to enjoy and wrench on Maybe they'll drive it more then I have over the last 6 years.
My issue is that I will have difficulty getting another like it, if I want one. I spent a lot of time, when I had the '87, looking for one like this, and got lucky.
Obligatory pic of the engine There is some overspray at front of bay and rear hood bumpers.
