Default Engine bay clean up on a racer

Hi rennlisters!

I´m building av racer out of my -90 GT. I´m well in the progress but there is lots left to do. I´ve just pulled the engine out och want to get rid of all things unnecessary for racing.

All the Ac-stuff are gone and now I need your help and ideas of what to remove.

What about the carbon cannister(?) with lines? Can I just take it out and do I need to plug anything?

Any more ideas of what to remove?

All help is appreciated!

Cheers,

You will need to connect two lines: the one coming from the fuel tank and the one leading to the vent line below the rear bumper. The rest can be removed but then plug the rubber hose to the vent solenoid below the oil filler neck.

Thanks! Will do that.

That will save me some weight.

The car was Mark Anderson's racer, now sitting in my MILs garage awaiting spring break so Greg and I can finish putting together its next motor. It started as a 1988 S4 (the one listed in my signature line) and gradually became the Zombie. It had a major streamlining/stripping down in 2003, to a body-in-white. Hence the lack of anything unnecessary for track use.

For my racer ...

Rear windows replaced with Lexan
All HVAC
All forward running and smog lamps - I only have brake lights on mine
Everything in the front fender wells including the Linings
Smog pump
Mechanical fan
All interior including sound deadoning- down to just the bare interior skin
Complete dash - mine only has the instrument cluster in place
Passenger seat
Interior door skins cut out
Fan shroud

My car weighs in at 2600 w/out a cage

Here is a short clip of my ride when I recently tried to sell her. Since then ... it looks like Ill be keeping for awhile longer.

Sorry for the rambling in the video. I had my drink on that afternoon... lol

Great pics, thanks!

Like the front cage solution in the V-form. Not installed a cage yet but I have it waiting....

Always better to start bare and just install the things you need. Whats your solution for the power steering?

Like your clip. It gives a good grip of what you have done. Just love the sound of your exhaust!!

Looks interesting, though, I think I would have placed it in the engine bay.
