Default 1985 928s #0549 Black on black

Ive spent the last few months learning this car. It has sat in Ca. in a garage under a cover the past 11 years complete with 12 gallons of fuel. Glove box contained evey piece of documentation one could want including all service work. Tools complete. Last sevice invoice(2.5k) just a few hundred before storage included gaskets, cam seals, washer, dizzys, ISV, brakes, tires, porsche fuel lines, temp 2 ect. 87K on the clock.
The knowledge and support of this group is spectacular. In the 80 hours of reading I've learned a substantial amount.
I spent somewhere around 100 hours on freshinging the car up.
Fuel pump, fuel filter, drained/cleaned tank, lines flushed with b12,TB, WP, tensioner rebuild, ac bracket fix, plugs, plug wires, belts, bosche jtp connectors, vacuum hoses, vacuum elbows, intake refresh, injectors cleaned, injectors tested, cat delete, new O2, grounds cleaned, 15/50 synthetic, oil filter, air filter, maf tested, headlight switch, tranny service, thrust bearing adj, ps hoses, leather condtioned, and one really cool dream.
Took it out after warming it up. Made sure tranny and radiator were full and double/tripple checked for leaks especially around injectors as this is the first go around with these for me.
Got her up to 50, alls well, pulled over to check for leaks. Nothing.
Started off again and around 20mph she went into limp mod.
Re checking my work reviled I put the c-clip throttle cable keeper and the other one on the wrong side so i had 10mm of slack. I missed a vacumm hose before the air filter, and my maf wasn't fully seated.
She has been a great project! Quite a different beast than my '73 FJ40, and 1968 396 el camino.
The three miles of growling has me excited to work the bugs out.
Ill get the maf reinstalled this week and give it another go. Thanks for you help each one of you!

A few more

First drive day

Lots of documentation

Refreshed I took 400grit to the raised 32v, and slightly scratched the paint around it for a more authentic worn look.

What did i get myself into? 24feet of vacumm line? wsm calls for 4mm, i found 3.9mm at autozone

Hopefully its true

First attempt. Cut after co2 bung. They well be redone in stainless this month. Used fiberglass cloth to help seal it didnt pass emission due to cats plugged. Thats why it was parked. Got a whole $30 in tubing from autozone and 2 hours fit weld, and yes it aint pretty, but exhaust does go out tail pipes.

First day of ownership. Let it sit for 4 days. Took hardley an effort to spin after 11 yesrs dorment.

Nice 928!
Wonder what the backstory is on the SHESBK plate...
"She's Back" is my guess.

Nice find and great job bringing her back. I just picked up that magazine, was nice to see a positive article about the 928, even if it was from across the pond.

Shes Back is correct. Im thinking people ran scared when the shark came around, or she loves ACDC. And shes now 74!
Thanks for your kind words, I'm very excited to join the 928 crowd.
Im hoping this small thread will give someone else confidence to do the same using this excellent resource. Im a retired bicycle shop owner of 26 years, Ive never owned a car newer than 78, but with diligence it can be done.
now comes the hard part. Its raining so im not going to see it I found the problem with limp home mode. If not I'll be asking question to the experts here.
I rechecked the maf and its at about 575 on pins 3/6, so its going to have to go back soon if i understood everything I've read.
