Default Chicago Shark Spring Tune Up

Riding my bike downtown the other day, I saw a man in the loop driving a red 86.5. (At first I thought somebody stole my car!) After making intros at a red light it got me thinking of the next Chicago get together.

In a few months would anyone be down for a spring tune up? I'm thinking cold beverages and any "basic" wrenching somewhere right outside the city?

I bring this up early as there are no garages or parking lots around me in the city and more logistics seem involved. I would be happy to provide plenty of cold ones in exchange for a little Porken Chip install help (along with accessories )

Hopefully this gives any Chicagoland owners something to look forward to while the snow melts!

Hopefully my winter projects will be done in time for a spring meetup; I started pulling apart the airbox and MAF today for a light intake refresh. I've got a garage, a long driveway, and a low-profile jack with 6-ton stands way up in North Park (Foster and Kimball, approximately) that we could use, but someone else would have to provide the technical know-how for a Porken install.

Did you guys end up getting together? If not, do you have anything planned?

We did not, well not that I am aware

Now that spring is HOPEFULLY here, let's get a Saturday or Sunday on the calendar. I know there was a venue or two thrown up on this thread, does that still work? Or does anyone have another venue idea? After we decide on the place lets get a date going. I have some tools but no garage

I got zero work done this winter and the 928 is non-op, so the garage is currently full. But it would be cool to get together if you find somewhere to do it.

I will be pulling the engine next Saturday, though, if anyone wants to hang out and lend a hand. The driveway is just a single car wide, though, so it would be tough to work on anything else without being able to put mine on the street.

I don't have a Shark yet (hopefully that'll be changed in a bit over 15 hours), but I'd love to tag along and just watch/learn/listen.

I'll supply the beer and ignorance. You guys can supply the knowledge.

We will make a good team!@

Also - I might be able to get access to a large working area (a workshop for construction equipment). It won't have any tools that we could likely use (maybe a jack or some other smaller items), so anything else would need to be brought.

It's down in the Lockport area. If there would be interest, let me know and I'll ask if we could get it for a night.

Itoolio, did you pull the trigger on a 928? Also if any of these areas in mind have jacks or lifts that would be ideal. Otherwise we need some jack stands/liftbars. I have plenty of hand tools but not any air tools for heavy stuff. Maybe we just look at making this a spring maintenance/tune up session? I.e. Nothing more than spark plugs and intake work. Thoughts?

Hey Tim -
I pulled the trigger, but:
1. Need to get the title, reg & plates still.

2. Having some issues with it right now (detailed here), so need to do some work to get it back on the road.

I'll check on the lift...my guess is that the shop doesn't have one, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Otherwise, like you said, we'd need to cart down the tools / jacks.

And I'd be up for even minor tune-up / maintenance work.....anything to get into the weeds a bit more.

Now that I've sorted out my relay issues, I'm ready for a Chicago get together. That is unless work gets in the way.

The other Tim

Sounds like we have a spot and things to work on! I have some tools and I'm assuming some of you other guys have jacks and more tools. What dates work for everyone? Starting with April?

Default Chicago Meet & Greet

I would love making the trip to Chicago, please let me know the dates! What I lack in mechanical skills I can make up by bringing some fine Wisconsin craft beers!
