Default Can a 9281022150R flywheel go on an S4 block?

I am originally though this was an S4 flywheel becuase the engine I took it off of was a S4 block (so I thought). Is it possible the flywheel part number 9281022150R can go on an S4 block? thanks

That's a casting number, not a part number. 5-speed or automatic? Post a picture, that will help determine yes or no. (Or e-mail a pic to roberte01 at sbglobal.net and I'll post it.)

So I can put it on a S4 block and put it in my 1989 without any modifications?

I thought it was strange that the 87,88,&89 flywheels had different part numbers in the manuals

A 87-88 Flywheel has a part number of928.102.075.03)
and an 89-95 has the part number of928.102.075.04)
Does anyone know the differences?

Think about it- they all go on the same crank. They all mesh up with the same starter. They all pass their 60 -2 teeth past the same crank sensor. That flywheel will work on any 87-95 Automatic car with a stock LH brain. The differences probably have to do with those (unused) little timing nubs on the front of the flywheel.

A good rule of thumb when you're wondering whether part X from year Y will work on another year 928, look up the part on 928Intl's website- if the part is listed for a range of years including the year of the target car, yer good.

no weights, but it is balanced. You will see a blank hole. You should be able to line that up to the crank. I can't remember if there is a locator pin or not, but it should be pretty obvious.

correct pin is needed for the timing gear void to be in the "right place".....or it will never run

jim, by timing gear, you mean the gears that control the camshafts? I noticed the flywheel has two sets of teeth. I assumed both are far the starter.

No, by timing gear he means the 60-ish square-topped 'teeth' that make up the timing ring, which line up with the crank position sensor (CPS). The void he's referring to is the ~1 inch gap in the square teeth.

The sharp, pointy, rip-your T-shirt teeth are the starter gear teeth. Only 1 row needed:
