Default Water Pump- best price

Hi - I've just bought a '91 Amethyst Metallic S4 five years after selling my last 928, a '92 Midnight Blue GTS. It's been a long 5 years so I'm very pleased to be back behind the wheel of a shark! However it needs plenty of work to get in ship shape thanks to the previous owner being slack with regular maintenance. Having owned 4 previously this doesn't scare me (god knows I've had all the more common problems in the past), but I'm no mechanic so I'm trying to source the best deals on parts. I've bought an OEM timing belt from 928 Intl. (along with new door seals, fog light trim & RMB), so now I'm in need of a water pump. Does anyone know of the best price for a water pump?
Thanks

price is perhaps the least import part of this decision..... not all water pumps are of the same quality. And since a water pump failure can easily take out the timing belt it can make a big difference.

Given the shipping cost from the states I think I'd just ask Mark to throw a new Geba pump in the box with the rest of your parts:

Thanks guys. I really do like the color - not everyone's taste but then neither is a 928 so you may as well have one that stands out in my view! Would love to know how many were made in Amethyst Metallic - does anyone know of anywhere online that shows production numbers by color?

Only Porsche has that information (if they've even collated it themselves....) . I do know that among the U.S GTSs, (406 of them) there's only 1 Amethyst car (paint code F9F9), a '94 Auto, serial # 65. Dunno about any of the ROW numbers.

If you have the VIN I can run your option codes (if you don't already have them enumerated).

Digging the purple woofers in back!

Best price is whatever keeps our wonderful parts suppliers in business. On the other hand, I'd throw them all under a bus in exchange for a car of that color.

Beautiful paint on that car!

I'll echo Jim B's comments - get the best water pump out there, not the best price.

As far as water pumps go, the general consensus here for the best is the Lasso (Laso?) pump with pinned plastic impeller.

amethyst is amazing.

You should look into vin/production numbers- that black with contrasting piping, if original, has to be...uncommon.

Nice mirrors, too...

Wow, I thought the factory pumps were around $1K...Mark's price up above is about the same as a Lasso, i believe.

I'll be doing this job some time next year...I'm still seriously tempted to go with that Engine Guardian pump, because it seems like such a great idea. I want to get all of the community-sourced innovations on my car that I can, just because

I've had a Guardian pump on my 89 for a couple of years now, and "NO PROBLEMS!" Great idea, and I'd rather have the coupling let go than bent valves. It's also competitively priced.
