Default What it is

So today on my way to work, on a remote stretch of highway, I did a blast. Kicking down on the throttle at 80 MPH the 4.7 V8 roared and lurched forward. The acceleration was smooth and fast. The newly rebuilt automatic transmission downshifted smoothly into third gear and held it while I floored the car until it finally upshifted into 4th at over 120. The car was smooth as glass all the way to 135 where I ran out of room and slowed down. Amazing how smooth the car is. The engineering in this car is amazing. I looked at my gauges at 130 and I wasn't turning 3000 mph. Truly this car is meant for more. Gotta find an empty airfield and see how far it will go.

I predict it will go to the end of the runway.

I disagree. Just just like a jet, it will go off the end of the runway if there isn't enough room left to stop. Same principals of sudden deceleration and g loading apply....

As Nike says "Just do it"! Oh and I wasn't wondering how FAR it would go but rather how fast it will go. IE a TOP GEAR runway test.

True of the 928 breed, I had a shmuck tailgating me on a 55 mph curvy two lane today, ..he was drifting over the centerline like he was gonna pass, when the next straight opened up, I mashed it, and went from 55 to past 90 with the romp of the throttle, ...he was a distant memory.

You should be able to get to at least 150 with your 4 speed. I can only manage to get to 130 when my 3 speed hits a wall at 4000rpm in third. Although it does pull very hard from 80-120, even more so when you are doing 85 in first .

It also hits a wall at 5500 rpm in second going 120 where as it will go to 6500 in first. I just need some more power...

An airfield seems really tempting to max the car on, they used to do that at a local airport for the PCA in my area until the plane owners started to complain last year.

Have fun figuring out how fast your 928 will go

3000 rpm at 130? I'm only at around 80-85MPH AT 3k. Is that right? (86.5, BTW)

On a tangent....... I find that other people give way in the 928 at intersections etc. I also drive a DD Audi and that doesn't happen, nor when I had other P cars.

The mid range acceleration of the 928 is lovely.....
