Then it is a question of removing the armrest and getting the door panel off. A putty knife is good; there are some better pry tools at AZone that may save some of the plastic attachment pins that are brittle with age. Some will probably break. The New Visitor thread has lots of good info and links for the new owner.
I'm done with that place we have a Napa here that is locally owned and the guy at the counter is an old school mechanic. Their hours are poor which is why I went to AZ. But sometimes experience is king.

No window relays, at least not in the older cars.

Check the fuse first, then the switch. The switches are known for getting "crusty" and not working.
As MrMerlin would say "DeOxit, DeOxit, DeOxit."
Get a can. I got mine at Radio Shack.

There are several threads on the window switches.

Here's one:

Thanks Joe. Great link. I pulled the switch and it looks newer and in good shape. I will chase it down the line and see what I can find. I did not check the fuse since the drivers side works.

Not to hijack the thread but I validate the AZ concerns.
I watched my local AZ fall off dramatically in the last year.
I had gone in to get a timing light and needed one of the employees to unlock the case to get it out. When I asked for the timing light, he kept asking me for what make of car, as he tried to look it up in the computer...

That wasn't the last straw, I figured even a trained monkey could sell me something, even if I knew more then he did.

The last straw was when I went in for degreaser and was standing in line while some chump had to leave the register to go help his brain-dead partner change a windshield wiper for somebody out in the parking lot.
Meanwhile, some female (not being sexist btw) employee, who's only function I could tell was to yawn and occasionally scratch, stared at me from behind the counter with no effort being made to check anyone out.
I put my goods down and left. Have not been back.

Ha! I know. It's funny how sometimes we want something so simple yet either the employee can't use common sense or the company won't allow them to. Usually a combination of both. Between the high turn over these large corporations have and the cost to train someone into a position, these types of companies have short sighted the importance of training correctly. Not just in AZ but all companies across the retail market.

You need to get yourself a test light. I believe Wisconsin Joe was talking about the inside of the switch, not the terminals on the back, if that is what you were checked. The inside terminals get nasty and the little piece of metal in there loses its shape over usage. I had to take the switches apart all the time on my 944.

Also, with that new test light you are going to buy, check the switch that works and see what is "hot" and what becomes "hot" once the switch is depressed (by touching the terminals on the backside of the switch). Then check the switch for the window that is not working. If both switches have power (hot) and work similarly, then I'd move to the window motor, which is located inside the door...and check for power there (once the switch is depressed). Now, if one switch works and the other doesn’t, maybe use the good switch in place of the bad switch and see if the window works.

And another thing...did the window ever work?

Good luck...and stay the heck out of Auto Zone...unless your knowledge of these issues increases and you don't need their help any longer.

Brian.

Yes I do. Maybe Santa will bring me one. I just aquired the car last Saturday so I don't know when the last time it worked. I did pull the switch and clean it all up and inspect that it was making contact with it is. I also checked the fuse. Although the drivers window works so probably not that. By the way I have never seen fuses like that. I doubt anyone in town stocks those. I better get some ordered. I am assuming it is either the wiring to the Motor or the motor itself. I just ran out of time.

Those are called GBC, Bosch-style, or Torpedo fuses.

You'll be happy to know that AutoZone doesn't stock them.

But other places do.

My 944 uses them and I got some locally, but I can't remember where.

Ok so I have determined the switch works and power gets all the way to the door. I am starting a new thread that makes sense.
