I have uploaded a video that might help explain & answer how the driver is typically mounted

Hope this helps. Feel free to hit me with any other questions and I will try my best to answer them.

Enjoy your weekend

Hi,

I have a 964 with the h5 headlights, i believe. Would these bulbs work with my headlights?

If you have H5 headlights these bulbs would not fit as they are H4.
If there is enough interest for H5 I will see if I can get some made & get them over to Roger @ 928'sRUS

Thanks
Steve

Keep in mind that the H4 headlights for 928s are the Euro/ROW configuration, US-spec cars had H5's. The difference is that the H4s have a sharp upper cutoff, and adding lumens doesn't appreciably increase glare. The US-spec H5s for the 928 spray light everywhere (I think that is a DOT requirement), and increasing brightness increases glare. One view is that is a SEP (somebody else's problem), on the other hand I like oncoming traffic to be able to see something other than my headlights.

What kelvin are these H4? Have you tried them on a 80's 911, is there enough room in the back of the light housing for the fan?

Hi
These are 5000 Kelvin H4. We have tried these and a more compact version in the 80's 911 and whale Tale derivatives - we have a few of these in our local TIPEC region in which am joint RO. I keep working at our development team to get a solid bulb design that will fit into the 911 cavity behind the lens for the '80s cars as it will be a massive benefit for these Porsche to be able to fit our CREE LED bulbs and benefit from mower current draw but with better light to use on the road when driving.

I will kep you posted to our developments and hope to have a solid resolution early in the new year for the older 911's

Many Thanks
Steve

Roger. Put me down for a full set for my H4's on my 90 S4 and both driving lights and fog lights.

Thanks,

See... this. This right here is why I asked for a decoder ring in my first post in this thread. The bulb/lens information for our cars is constantly contradicted by multiple sources. I'm sure they are all correct for some cars/configs but we need a single list of which ones are on which 928s.

Does anyone know off the top of their head? Is there an official doc anywhere that we can check for each year?

This looks and sounds easier than what I did, stuffing HIDs into everything up front. When that ends up being a problem, I'll definitely be calling roger.

Where are you in the UK, I might like to stop by my next quarterly trip to the UK ~Jan30th

I am not sure - but all things being equal they should. I will see if I can get hold of a Touareg near me to have a try and fit them. Otherwise you are welcome to try them and I will give you a refund if they do not work - just return them. However I know you are a long way away in Australia so you may prefer to see if I can try a Touareg local first.

Happy to oblige either way.

Thanks
Steve
