I know you have that now! but this way you can actually have low or high beams on with the fog lights off or on .

For earlier cars there is no such simple fog disable relay to replace, only a single fog light relay. However you can simply swap out the USA fog light relay with the equivalent year's ROW fog light relay and it will have the same effect. In '84 it was relay XII, in '85-'89 it was relay XIII and in '90 relay IV.

I've attempted to search for part# for a MY 87 ROW foglight relay XIII. Was only able to find a PET for Great Britain where the part numbers are the same - 928 615 117 02 as the North American relay.
Is Great Britain not ROWish relative to North America ?
Can anyone confirm, or know how to ?

Guys,
Initially I thought the foglight relay part numbers were listed as possibly being interchangeable on the PET from Great Britain (ROW). When I searched under PN 141 951 253 B, I find it is a '53' relay.
Is this correct ?
Does the designation M193 in the Model column have some significance I am reading over ?

If this is correct, Happy Day!!!
Just wanted to be sure b4 smoking the CE
I just tested this on my '85. Throw in the 53 Relay. The fog lights won't turn off when the high beams are turned on, but otherwise, it works as it should.

Found this from an old Rob Edwards post.
M193 means version for Japan with the 928 615 117 02 foglight relay.
Otherwise the GB cars (I am assuming a GB car would be ROW) has a '53' relay. If so this would be the ROW replacement relay for MY 87-91 for the high beam/foglight issue.
Can this be confirmed for the tribe.

I just plugged a "53" relay into the fog light socket. It works on the '85. Fog lights will remain on when the high beams are on, but otherwise it's fine.

BTW, I had ordered a fog light relay for my '85 last year and never got around to putting it in. FWIW, My car had the original relay which I can't recall the P/N. The one Roger sent me was P/N 928 615 117 02. The only difference between the two is the older relay is a bit larger and has an extra terminal (86b) in the center. The new relay performed the same as the original relay in the car. When I installed the "53" as I said before, the only issue is the foglights don't shut off when the high beams are on. I don't think most of us are going to take issue with that.

You'd be correct.
If I go with the Cree's for the headlights, I just don't want my high beams on when I have my fog button pressed. Alan stated a ROW relay would solve that. Good to know a 53 and not a $$ relay is the fix.

Thank you!!!
Will try it this afternoon, also that is the same part number I found for the stock 85/86.

Note to others: the Fog Light relay is year dependent, please read Alan's comments for the correct fix for the issue per MY.

Thanks all,

Dave

It's important to have the LEDs in the same position as the filaments in a stock H4 bulb.

The price is great though, so hoping these bulbs are a good solution.
Don - well spotted! These bulbs have the LED Chips positioned on either side so don't give the dip beam direction correctly hence the low brightness comments you see on Amazon for these bulbs. They are also in a plastic housing so the heat cooling efficient is much lower than any version with a metal housing so when they get hot they start to switch down the w/lumen ratio and reduce brightness.

The other problem with the position of the bulbs is they only reach 270° max unlike the 360° that they claim in the advert! This gives dark dead spots on the road ahead.
We tested these bulbs early on and were not happy to sell them! They are in no way comparable to the correctly positioned CREE LED bulbs we sell.

There are 2 new types of CREE LED bulbs coming out so the price of these older problematic units will keep coming down on eBay & Amazon as companies off-load them.
We will keep the list updated with the new products

Default Woodypeck H4 LED bulbs out on the road with correct cut-off

On of our customers purchased our 2S LED H4 bulb upgrade some weeks ago in readiness for their trip across Europe - France, Italy & the Alps then through Switzerland then home to the UK. They didn't want to make the trip on poor lights in their VW T4 Van So they purchased our LED bulbs.

At the weekend I asked for some photos for our website - the customer was over the moon at how well he could see the road with our lights during their Euro trip and especially up through the Alps. So he said he would take some photos at the weekend and maybe a video - Well what can I say - a happy customer is always the best recommendation - take a look at what he posted up to YouTube!

Great video - what a great customer - Nice LED lights on the road video!
