Default '87 S4 injector pulse woes...

Hey guys. I've done a lot of work to this car, most recently new fuel injectors, ect. ( this is Kevin's car for those who have followed his threads). After work was completed fired it up and had 3 dead injectors from the start. Replaced the 3 dead ones with 3 of the old ones, started and ran fine. After replacing a PS line and the trans cooler lines I fired it up again to verify the repairs, and it shut off on its own after about 8-10 minutes. Got fire, no injector pulse.

As I'm digging through the engine wiring harness I have the idle air motor clicking randomly, another vacuum actuator clicking randomly, ( car is off and key is in my pocket) and I have 12v to both prongs on all of the injector pigtails. When I disconnect the harness from the LH control unit and plug it back in, my noid light lights up for 3-5 seconds then dies out and I'm back to having 12v across the board. The wiring harness condition is questionable as far as the condition it's in at the engine side connectors, but I pulled them all off of eachother for troubleshooting purposes and still no change. Bad LH control unit? Or is this a " get out the soldering gun and get started on hours of electrical repair" situation? I've never run into this one before.....

first did you remove any relays and then install them into the wrong slots?

with the key out the power should be off,

could the rear defroster have gotten turned on at the pod ,
It can be pushed on and twisted on as well or remove the rear defrost relay.

NOTE injectors that have been sent off for cleaning then not function when they are returned are probably just stuck,
and only need some reactivation with a 9 volt battery .

connect the small jumper wires to the injectors then tap on the battery till the injector starts working

this..i fill them up with a bit of brake clean when i cycle them also. They do stick..especially if they have sat for a while.

All the relays that are related to these systems are new. I have power, and even switch power, but I get no ground to the switch side of the relays for the fuel injection or the fuel pump. From what I have read these ground circuits are controlled by the LH control box. So I pulled the box and found evidence of water damage and a couple of small discolored spots on the ground circuitry on the board where the pins that control the ground signals are located. Kevin's bringing me another box to try in the morning.

If I supply a direct ground to the ground wire on the fuel
Injection connector in the engine compartment, all the fuel
Injectors fire off and the noid light lights up, but it's not doing it on it's own like it should. If I bypass the relay for the fuel pump, so it supplies pressure, still no injector fire. The only thing I can see in any schematics that would link the two ( on the ground circuits anyways) would be the LH computer. At least, if all the information I have found out in the community is accurate. Guess we will see in the morning.

Oh and no not the rear defroster. I located the clicking noises under the hood, one is the vac solenoid that rests on the water pump and the other is the idle air control valve. Both actuating while the car was off and key out. It's got gremlins!

get some deoxit 5% spray and do the front and back of the CE panel double check the correct position oif the relays
SRSLY it sounds like you have a relay in the wrong slot if you have power with the key out

NOTE Deoxit is gremlin eliminator

Spray the computer connectors as well.

AND do not install a new computer into your car.

rather take your unit and try it in a running car first to test your computer,
this prevents damaging an otherwise good computer
