Default Super TT brgs :)

Part of my winter projects (see previous thread on driveline noise) is to rebuild the TT on the GTS and given I want to keep this car for a very longtime I ordered Constantines super bearings which arrived today.

Ive seen many pics of these from Dwaynes write ups etc but to have them in hand is something else..........these are a tremendous upgrade to the stock OEM IMHO.......now all I need is to install them

On my PM list for the next year or two. Originals are fine at ~110k miles, still quiet, and since I never rev the engine over about 3k they should last a long long time, right?

Hi Malcolm,

Glad you finally got them and thank you for the kind words.

Sure glad they didn't go to London after all.

Have fun with the rebuild!

I've had several torque tubes brought to me, with these bearings installed. However, I've been buying rebuilt torque tubes for years, and never thought that these bearings were essential.

Lately, I've had several rebuilt torque tubes fail after 6-8 years and decided that I really needed to do something better, if possible, for my customers. (The plastic pieces inside the bearings have been disintegrating....or the bearings have migrated.)

So, I bought a set of these bearings and finally got to "hold" them in my own hands.

What a fantastic product. Very robust bearing housing, with a much larger surface area to keep the bearing from migrating. Very high quality pieces.

And, with one of my brand new 300M driveshafts (very straight, super strong, "fresh" piece of steel with less twist than an fatigued old shaft) the end product was extremely smooth.....even without the "counterweight" installed.

I'm very pleased with the result. The customer is also pleased with the end result, which is what really matters.

I installed them in my '85 Manual over five years ago and never had an issue, really smoothed out the vibrations and noise issues from the old failed stock bearings.

When the '86.5 Auto showed similar symptoms, it was a no brainier to do the same and not look back. I for one am very satisfied with the quality of these replacement/upgraded bearings.

I would like to suggest that anyone who has their Engine or Transmission out for service should plan on and consider upgrading the TT bearings at the same time with these and be done with it sooner than later.

Thanks again!

I suppose if one does not like the security and satisfaction of installing over engineered, high quality products on their 928, then one should not consider products from either Black Sea Engineering or Precision Motorwerks.

I put plenty of products from both these fine suppliers on the two 928's I used to own. For those familiar with those cars, no expense was spared.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the props!

I believe I had the pleasure of being under your now sold 1990 S4 at a local Atlanta 928 gathering a few weeks ago. The workmanship by Precision Motorwerks was first rate. The custom exhaust was a work of art and sounded bad ***! I'm sure you miss it.
