So I finally got a 928
I am now the "proud" owner of my very own 1979 928!!!
I got the title transferred today and am completely psyched to get working on it, but I've got to wait a little to finish this semester before I dig in. So hopefully the weekend after next I'll be able to fully start up on it, though I might go ahead and give it a bit of a clean and maybe remove some interior once I get it into its work space.
I swear I'm a good photographer!! Sorry some/most of the pics aren't that great... I have no excuse I'll take better ones when the opportunity arises.
On the thread I put up before hand a few of you gave me a lot of info. and I've been compiling a document with a checklist for all that should be done and parts I'd need to get. I downloaded and got printed the workshop manuals as well, figuring they'll come in handy.
I've learned more about 928s on this forum than I have in all my other web searching combined! I'd like to thank all of you who commented on my previous thread, the information you've provided has already got me with a fairly well laid out plan of what I need to get done.
I'll continue using this thread for the rest of the work I'll be doing on the 928.

Don't rush, and don't get discouraged. Remember, half the fun is the journey!

Oh well, I admire your zeal....please ask if you need any help, we are here for you. Read my thread if you get time...you will run into many of the same things I have already addressed.

Welcome to the project 928 club, which includes just about everyone here
It looks like a solid place to start. Interior parts aren't too bad to replace, the only real hard part about redoing the interior is handing over the money to do so.
I see a PO has added their own front fan. I would be suspicious of anything else they might have done to the cars electronics. It shouldn't be too hard to get running correctly after all of the soft lines are replaced.
Best of luck on your 928

I love it when people save the old ones--congrats! In case you missed the thread, 928 Intl is having their 1/2 price sale on used parts. A perfect time to inventory and order. http://shop.site-link.com/928intl/ Best of luck. And I don't know where you live, but it looks a LOT warmer than where I am.

I am working my way through the finer points of 928 caretaking myself.
The experts here are amazing.... very friendly and remarkably knowledgeable.

Take your time. Get it running and drive the car so you can bond with the car and enjoy what it will bring. I have been working on my 928 for 5 years now. think about projects, and break it up into manageable segments. I did the engine front end first, Top end, transmission, car interior, respray, doing the engine bottom and suspension now, and then I have electronics to do next.
So like me, you may have to go through the whole car. 928s can definitely keep you busy and there will be some cash going out the door. But the rewards are incredible... Remember you can get it drivable, and it is fairly reliable, getting it back to perfect, is a labor of love..

Like others have said, take it one step at a time or you may be overwhelmed.
Even when you think everything is done, one more thing will pop up that needs to be addressed.
It is like the gift that never stops giving...

wow, you have your work cut out for you but start with the safety and mechanical side of things. work you way through a priority list leaving the interior and paint untill last.
keep us posted with progress and good luck with your 928.

So I'm done with this semester and was able to start working a little on the 928 today. We moved it into the workshop yesterday. Today I started off just trying to sort out what ever problem it had with the fuel pump not getting current but ended up removing a bit of the old body kit that was mounted.
I didn't get to look into the clutch much but while I was looking into the fuel pump I went ahead and cranked it in gear and got a bit of a surprise. Up til now I assumed the clutch was engaged, guess it wasn't because it turned over effortlessly. The clutch pedal sits on the floor and has no back pressure. I think I'll go ahead and order a new master and slave tomorrow.
And to the newest problem of the day, the car won't roll!! It appears that using the brakes last night moving it around left them locked up!
Monday I'll be at it all day so hopefully there will be a decent update. Other than the clutch parts I'll be ordering some fuse bars so I can change out all the fuses for a more modern option.
