Fog lights, Auxiliary High Beams...are those just different names for the same thing?

You need the "flash" function so you can blink your lights at 911's and watch them go "Huh? What? What was that?".

The 85-86 have a different part# for the fog-light relay (according to Alan's Cosmic Relay/Fuse Charts) so I am guessing that the trick of substituting a 53-relay (to get the fogs to stay on with high beams) may not work.

So swapping this to a 53B relay gets you fogs not disabled by the high beams but loses the flash to pass - (to me that is not a good trade off though).
Dr Bob - the ROW configuration has all the same sized wiring so it should be OK with stock bulbs - however I'm sure it will drop voltage anyway - it is pretty skinny. Better grounding would be nice and for upgraded bulbs in ROW mode local relays are really needed.
Strangely in stock configs the aux highbeams have a bigger wire - but only on the supply side - odd choice. Beefing up the common ground would have made more sense.
I found better wiring to be important for HID fogs - The voltage multipliers in some HID systems are quite sensitive to voltage level - too low and they just don't initiate the arc, or can even drop out when running. Summer generation droop + wiring losses can get you there. You do need the ROW fog configuration for HID fogs else they are reinitiating after each highbeam use, you get lower light output for several seconds every time - certainly not good.
