I would say red based on the color of the front shock tower.

yep...and the door interior part and the rear bumper cover seems to have some red showing through..

I'm curious as to how cheap this is....if you don't...maybe I will . Get it over here and sit on it until you can rebuild to its former glory..

Are the side mirrors factory? I have never seen that type of mirror on any 928? What is the last picture of? Was someone trying to supercharge it? It seems that way with the red intake hose and what looks like a supercharger.

Club Sport only had driver's side mirror.
Not if you paid extra for the passenger one.

So did the Club Sports come with phone dial wheels..?

The seats look amazingly good, in light of the overall condition.
(at least what little you can see of them appears in good shape).

I have one of the rare CS wing nuts I will donate to the cause .
But seriously though Kev, I say go for it. We'll come over and help.

Have you checked into the costs and logistics of getting it over here?
I have a good tow vehicle and access to a nice car hauler trailer.
If you can get it to the port of Savannah, we could road trip to get it.

The term "project" is a bit of an understatement for this one.
But "rarity" is a pretty exciting thing...

Getting the car into the USA as it is older than 25 years is a walk in the park and circa $3k. The big problem is the car is a none runner and not so easy to drive into a container or RoRo on to a ship.

Looks a little rough. What about engine and drivetrain?

Call me Robbyanna, and I wouldn't try to bite off that project, but OTOH if the VIN checks out, and the M28.41SP engine is there, and the G28.55 trans is there, and the CS-specifc LH brain is there (where else in the world are you going to get THAT sticker....) I would say that hulk is worth way more than zero. $5K of bodywork, $10K of paint, $20K of drivetrain work, $10K of interior re-work, plus the cost of purchase and intercontinental transport, You might break even..

Looking at those pictures makes me shake my head and feel a bit down. Whoever did the hood scoop thing should be in prison.

Kevin, please send me an email and I will tell you what I know about this car.

By the way, they are no production 1987 CS.
So, this car is not a production CS. But it's one of the three prototypes I have identified so far.
I don't count the four cars made for the factory pilots. I think they are pre-production cars.

Ask Samuel in France as he is the CS expert or Erkka.

I would not sell my SE for $75k and the CS is even more special.
I have seen a CS for sale at €125k recently...
And it was sold (I don't know the real price paid, and will not ask the new owner).

Collectors seem to gain interest on the CS recently.
Most of them are now into very nice collections.

I would say if the block and trans are useable (original) you could bring it back to near original condition with other parts and still call it a CS (esp if the VIN is a CS vin)...
If it has the original engine block, transmission, and VIN, then its restorable.

The ECU's had a different part number, but are actually functionally the same, with the only difference being the ECU chips, which can be copied to give the same performance, and the odds of finding a correct ECU are slim to none, unless Porsche still has new ones and don't just show a supersede in their database.

Everything else missing in the pics can be lifted from S4's of various years, except the CS sticker, which is NLA. (e.g. AC compressor from a 90-95 car, factory hand-ported intake/heads/cams from an 89GT or SE)

Kevin - before considering buying, you need to get a photos of the engine block number and the transmission numbers.

Looks like it might be the Albrex supercharger kit which was the original 928 boost kit?

edit: ah, I see Samuel has posted above.. listen to him

Regarding this car:
engine block: Correct "SP" stamp on the block.

A/C unit (smaller): To check

interior had cloth stripes (mostly): Correct

transmission was a G28/55: Not this one. The G28/55 was officially released with production cars. This one has a G28/12, certainly modified.

rims were CS 8" and 9": Lost on this car, but with a set from a US 928 GT, you are right. You need a set of 17mm from a 944 Turbo on the rear track also.

sticker on the fenders: Not on a prototype...even if I have seen one with a black sticker, certainly added later.

no sunroof: Of course. No CS was delivered with one.

most of the other stuff was shared with the S4/GTs?: Correct, except the seats.

This is not a CS VIN, as only the production 1988 cars have specific VIN ranges (one for the 2 US cars and one for the 10 RoW cars).
1989 CS are mixed with regular S4.
1987 prototypes and pre-production are mixed with regular S4 also.

You can note this car had a rear wiper, which is not a part of the "regular" CS equipment. But I know a red 1989 CS with it.

Some interesting items:
CS Rear silencer.
Lightweight sport seats without any electrical adjustment. CS specificic!
No cassette box
Shorter gearbox level

During its life, someone add a third break light and an Albrex. This is a kind of mix between a regular compressor and a turbo.
http://www.albrex.com

As I told you, no CS was ever delivered with a sunroof. That makes the following car more than suspicious to me:
http://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/...28/1988/149779
I think this car (wp0zzz92zjs845068) is a fake.
