Changed oil & filter now no oil pressure
Final stages of getting ready for Third Coast. I changed to Mobil 1 15w-50 and a new filter. Fired it up, no oil pressure (but sounds fine). Always had 5 bar at start up before with a little bouncing around then steady 3 or so.
No warning light. Turning the key the gauge moves from bottom to zero so the gauge is working? It's two separate circuits for the gauge and the light so I do have pressure, correct? Bad sending unit?

Sending unit wire connection was also my first thought.
,but if I may be the one to ask first, are you sure you installed the New filter, is there a puddle of oil under the car about the size of 8 quarts?

I checked three times afterwards and nary a drop but thanks for asking, otr18wheeler. And the puddle has already been cleaned up. Not having a 2-gallon catch pan I used my 1 gallon and the biggest kitchen pot. But during the switch over I still spilled a cup or so. Amazing how it s p r e a d s. I'll check the connections this evening.

If it is the sender connection, then I wish mine could be dislodged so easily! I wanted to remove mine to renew gasket (very greasy up there, and I didn't know if it was sender o-ring, or the oil pan gasket which I subsequently cleaned up and changed), but it wouldn't budge!

Tony, those pass through the 14-pin under the hood. Easier to check there IMO. Don't have wiring diagrams for your car handy to give you pinnumbers, sorry.

That's just grim..
You really need to clean that area up and re&re the wiring. If it's the sender then just swap a new one in. I think it's the wires...but no way to tell with that amount of yutz in there....

Yes, it's the wire ends. My temp patch gave me a good connection/readings and got me to Third Coast and back but I agree the wiring needs to be re-done with new ends. The sender is good but we'll see if the connection is too deteriorated once cleaned.
