Devek Headers and Full Exhaust For Sale
Hi,
I have Devek headers, full 3 inch exhaust, including catalytic converters, Borla mufflers and a rising rate fuel pump that I purchased from Devek in 2006.
I never had a chance to install them on my 1987 Porsche 928 S4.
Anybody interested in taking these off my hands?
$4500 plus shipping costs and there yours.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area if you would like to pick them up and save on shipping costs.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Joe

I have the same set up and this does give great power on the top end. very open exhaust....ie loud , and I lost alot of low end torque until I got a bigger engine....
nice looking set up , really a steal for someone high hp build..!!!!!

Hey Andy, thanks for the positive comments about the headers. I'm amazed there's been no interest in obtaining these rare beauties. I was always amazed how awesome those Devek headers sounded when I visited the Devek shop.

That is a beautiful exhaust setup but $4500 is up in the thin air of the exhaust aftermarket market. Are the Devek Level IIs stainless or mild steel? How about the rest of the catback? Any miles on the cats? Make/model of the cats? (WB)O2 sensor bung on the driver's side pre-cat?
Apologies for all the questions, but clarifying may help create additional interest.

Zero miles on the cats. Zero miles p. The whole setup.
Regarding the make/model of the cats, the sticker on the cats says Random Technology.
Not sure about the O2 sensor question.

you should check the headers to be sure about stainless. Use a magnet... if it sticks they are not stainless. I know who made the headers for Devek and they never made any stainless sets. more than likely yours are steel coated with a very good coating.

They are steel with a jet hot ceramic coating. They are not stainless. The random cats are stainless.. I have installed a set of the headers and random cats on my car for a very long time. I used spin tech mufflers instead of the Borla and my setup is all stainless except of course for the headers, as only the headers are from Devek.
Anyway, GLWS 😊

It is amazing how quickly technology marches on, in the years since Devek made any pieces.
There's no wonder why this system lost torque.
Looking at the firing order at the collectors immediately points to a huge problem. The 5-8 side of these pipes fires in a counterclockwise rotation pattern. This helps with exhaust extraction, since one pulse helps pull the previous pulse along.
The 1-4 side is completely messed up, with the cylinders actually cross firing across the collector, which does nothing for "extraction"....might even retard the gasses.
Impossible to know what happens when the exhaust hits the "x-pipe" section, but it probably isn't pretty.
Combine the firing order problem with a too large (3") exhaust and it's easy to understand why these only worked on a bigger engine that turned higher rpms.

Greg B for sure knows this stuff.
Perhapas this combo will work best on supercharged engine, giving massive flow boost.
Second best application for those would be stroker engine.
5L NA street engine needs torque, which this combo cannot provide due to reasons mentionned by Greg.
However, very nice and well fabricated exhaust system

Random Tech cats won't pass a calif smog inspection, AFAIK they don't have a valid EO#, and being new a smog station might insist on cats that meet the current requirements which have changed a couple times in the last 5 years.
