Default Flappy Leak

Hey gang. Doing an intake refresh on my 87. Got the flappy plate, shaft etc. back onto the intake but it's not holding vacuum. Should this hold a vacuum? Dewayne's write up points to the mm of Hg it should begin moving but doesn't specify if the vacuum should hold. I changed the bearings on both sides.

Did you put the double ended seals in when you installed new ones?

Yes, it should be air tight. Otherwise you will hear an air leak like a hiss or whistle sound.

uhh the double ended seals have nothing to do with the flappy working, other than making the shaft smooth to turn
the pod for the flappy has a hole in it thus it wont move or the hose is cracked, or the shaft is binding
