Question Stupid Question - Sunroof Removal

On a Droid and it keeps freezing when attempting to search for it. Does anyone know how to take the sunroof off of our cars?

Also, are all year sunroof panels (outer shell) interchangeable on 78-95 cars?

Are you trying to just remove the sunroof itself or convert your car to a sunroof delete???

Here is one option:

^^^^ that will work for sure! ^^^

IIRC you need to open it half way to start removing the screws and other parts, and I can not think of a reason why all would not be the same

I only know of the nichols site I just re-discovered.

http://nichols.nu/tip805.htm

I was hoping to find a write-up with pictures that show removal and reseal (which is what I'm looking at doing.) My roof has also faded from age so I'm going to 3M dinoc wrap the panel too.

Okay I found a link on the Pelican forums to remove the sunroof panel.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/6261411-post28.html

I need to locate one how to replace the outer seal. Mine is gray now and has wax caked up in the nooks and crannies over the years. I managed to get most of it out, but this aging seal definitely needs to be replaced. What are some experiences on replacing this seal? I have also heard about sunroof adjustment issues where one side of the outer panel does not line up. I don't see anything in the Pelican link about how to address that.

Roger has new seals. Replacement is an easy job.

IIRC there are 2 alignment screws on each side of the panel to adjust flushness with roof line when closed. Not difficult but definitely iterative with lots of opening and closing. Folklore says the seals don't actually prevent leakage. The design allegedly expects leakage which is why there are drainage lines in fore and aft on both sides. I have nice new seals and a flush closure but I still have leaks due to clogged drains. Weedwacker lines to clean out drains hasn't done the trick. More patience and time is needed I guess to clean them out.

I have been lucky so far not to have clogged drains. The last time I cleaned them was in 2002, which was the last time I actually drove with the sunroof open. It still works don't get me wrong; I just don't use it anymore.

The site Bertrand referenced in post #5 was the creation of the late Dan The Pod Guy.
We lost a wealth of information when that site went away.

However, the sunroof article was rescued and is now available.
There's a link to it in the "New Visitor" sticky. Last page, post #56.

It's a really good writeup with lots of pictures.
