Default Some powdercoated S3 intake parts for sale

I have a few refinished parts up for sale that I’ve been meaning to get to for a long time. First set is a MY 85-86 32V intake package. Finished in PORSCHE silver and black hammertone (which really is a charcoal on the cam covers). All text is embedded in-between base and clearcoats. Finished in 100% gloss clear powdercoat.
This is a very respectable S3 package, finish looks great! I long-blocked all the mating surfaces for the intake runners on a granite slab, so they are flat when installing. All holes are plugged and major casting blemishes have been filled with metal filler prior to coating. This is primarily for the cam covers which generally look horrible after they’ve been media blasted. It took a lot of work to get them looking this nice. Also, the primer coat and hammertone finish help in covering up casting defects.
This is a good, honest, S3 set with good condition cores as a starting point. I don’t claim they’re perfect. Parts are going on 30 years old now, and were not great castings from the factory. There are certainly a few blemishes etc to be expected in the finish. That being said, the overall finish is Good, and, I hope, better than most you’ll come across.

Set includes everything in the pictures.
Intake assembly
Waterbridge/coolant elbow
Metal Oil filler Neck
Cam Covers
Engine Crossbrace

This set is sold with NO core exchange. The cost of these parts is not only my labor, but the cost of the parts themselves. The price split is roughly 50% labor, 50% parts cost. I haven’t got a quote from 928 intl for a few months on these, but I believe I have them priced under what you’d get them from Marks half off sale. At any rate, the cores should be priced competitively. These intakes and upper engine accessories are not cheap anymore!
Price for this set is $1500 with free shipping anywhere in the continental US.

I also have 2 sets of S3 cam covers for sale. Finished in the same Black Hammertone/black lettering/100% Gloss clear. They are $400/set with free shipping. I have them listed in the marketplace. I’ll link them if I can figure out how??? https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...-for-sale.html

I’m happy to answer any questions about the parts, please feel free to PM or e-mail me. I also have them up on my homebrew website, with basically the same information. www.legendgarage.com

Thanks.
Ben

Those look super nice! I'm a ways away from that being a priority on my car but damn...at some point I want it to look like that!

Thanks bureau13, Scott and Tom. I hope this set finds a good owner.
Tom, we've got one more cam cover left! Try and get in line (Early!) for Mark's half off sale in December. Intake parts go fast and he usually only has a few sets available. Lets get you finished up!

Wow, nice set. I got other priorities right now, but someday I will be there I hope.

Keep up the good work.

Bumping this up one time. I can do $1350 with free shipping within the continental US on the 85-86 package and $325 free shipping for each set of the cam covers. This is pretty much a FREE powdercoat job on the cam covers people. The cores are worth the cost of admission alone. This isn't a fire sale, but they don't do anyone any good sitting in my shop collecting dust!
I don't know if I'll make it to 3rd coast or not, but can certainly find a way to get any parts out there if there's an interested party.

+928

I met Ben at the 2013 Third Coast. He did a beautiful job on my 87 S4. Now I can lift my hood with pride! Hope to see you this year.

This is what Ben's S3 runners look like, installed.

FWIW, Greg Brown was extremely impressed with his work.

I really need to do this at some point, but unfortunately lots of other issues are higher on the budget priority list. Those are really beautiful pieces though...

Those are absolutely gorgeous and I'd love to pick 'em up, but then what to do with my existing cores? Except maybe for engine fire victims, wouldn't most people already have all of these parts?

That's a legitimate question Jeremy. Yes, most folks will have these parts already. And, 85-86 owners are a much smaller market than 87-95 folks. So, this set will go indeed go to the right buyer.
But, for someone building a shortblock its a good way to buy a complete intake assembly. Or, if you have very rough cores on your car. (yep, happens more than you might think).
About a 3rd of the intakes I've done this last year have actually been for clients who have bought a second set. Cost issues aside, purchasing a second set means instant assembly. It usually takes me a month to turn a set around. The Dallas group actually has had a core set in circulation for a couple years now. It has worked out very well.

bump. $1050 shipped on the S3 set. I'm loosing quite a bit of money on the cores at this price..
$250/set shipped on the individual cam cover sets. Less than the cost to even refinish them.
