As Always --- If you want to see more coverage of the 928 in Pano or Excellence or whatever, write and submit your articles for publication. The club mags select what they publish from what they receive from members. Them would be us. There are lots of articles on the various other models because various other members write about them. There's a connection.

Recently we have been receiving great respect from the local Maverick region - why? Because as Dr. Bob says you have to become involved. We were very lucky to have Andy Kay (928 owner) become a concours judge and champion the 928. He arranged a 928 meeting at the main PCA event and our cars were center stage. We were enthusiastically welcomed which is contrary to what a few of us thought. The PCA Maverick region President often joins us for our breakfast meetings.

We're actually waiting for text on a pair of very cool 928s already shot for an upcoming issue, and have always had a soft spot for the cars since spending some time in an early 5-speed and then an S4 auto. I did also express interest in Matt's 928 "RS," but I'm not sure I agreed to feature his car before it was done. I'm fairly certain my response requested updates and some finished car pics. While I loved the concept—and still do—it would be highly unusual for me to commit to a feature story on a modified Porsche before it's done, because we've all seen projects go wrong in the details. What I simply don't understand is the continued public ire. It isn't doing anyone any favors, and I'm not going to be browbeaten into doing a feature story. Based on previous experience, that typically raises a lot of warning flags for me.
I agree that 928s don't get as much ink as they should. Same is true for 924/944/968/986/996 imho. I was proud of how many articles we managed to dig up on 928s at Excellence during my 16 years there, and will put that number up against any other car magazine. However, I've found that finding—and getting—good content on 928s might be the toughest of all Porsches over the years. So I am and always have been on the lookout. If you know a great 928 story, shoot me a lead, please!
So the responses here that note "get involved" are the most helpful—I've got pages, and if we can get a great story and great photos on a reasonable budget, you have my commitment that the 928 will get the limelight, too.

It certainly can be difficult to get appropriate interest in feature articles on the 928 in Panorama or Excellence. It's mostly a matter of extreme perseverance and timing (and having the right car/story). Still, there is a lot of leg work involved in getting it published.
Acceptance of the 928 by other PCA members, on the other hand, is a different story. Lots of love there for 928 owners and the 928. At least, that's been my experience in two PCA regions (Northeast & Space Coast).
There is strong interest in having 928's come to all PCA events, and to participate in concours, rally, tour, and track events, as well as monthly Kaffeklatsch's. Most PCA members are genuinely interested in learning about the car and seeing it firsthand. To many, the 928 is a rare car since they don't see them very often and they want to know all about it; how it handles, what the ride is like, what the V8 sounds like, etc. And, they are not reluctant to recognize 928's with awards at concours, rally and autocross events either.
When I take the black car to a PCA event, I'm often asked why I didn't bring the 928 instead. There's that much interest in the car.
You can line a 928 up next to a full row of 911's and you'll see folks gravitating to the 928 to check it out and to ask questions. I've always encountered an attitude of mutual respect among PCA members for all Porsche models, including the 928.

Thanks Brad and Hugo...but I can tell you there is much yet to be built up and refined before it gets to where it needs to go. It'll take time to build up the infrastructure to support that vision, but 928 content—and content on all Porsches—is part of the mix.

Someone on here re-acquired their S4 after...I think...a ten+ year hiatus? Ring a bell with anyone? That's an interesting story. Kind-of a well-worn refrain in classic car circles, but one that still I think makes most enthusiasts harken back to one or more cars they've owned and wonder about the possibilities...
Then there was (is?) the cultural phenom that was (is?) "Leeroy" the vagabond/doner 928.
A perspective on some of the micro-scale craftsman that develop products for specific model-lines might be interesting, to help foster ties across those boundaries. Applications of 3-D printing and the utility of CAD are potential threads, as well as marketing to a compartively small end market (for 928, at least). Hans, Gregg, Colin, others~
Various builds- again that Blau/Blau hyper-restoration in Turkey seems to be a remarkable effort.
There's Jim's/928 Classic's efforts to ensure stewardship of the earliest variants and some of the earliest cars.
No lack of fodder, that's for sure.

Pete is as neutral as they come. Actually he is a big fan of the front engine cars. I have had the pleasure of working with Pete and he is a class act. His hard work is easily visible in how much nicer Pano looks already. Looking forward to his future vision.
