Dr Bob - I changed the ground strap a few months ago and wrote a short article detailing the improvements. I have included a link to the article below. That is my car on the bottom.

I replaced my ground strap at Sharktoberfest and tested the resistance in the old strap vs the new one. While the difference was small it was there. I still have a low voltage at night with the a/c on, but my car does idle better and I'm at mid gauge during the day 😃😃

I did what I thought was a thorough series of tests on primary wiring, including both resistance and looking at voltage drop. Neither conclusively indicated a ground strap problem, yet a new one worked wonders. I ended up with new positive battery cable, alternator, a couple batteries in the process, lots of connection cleaning, some head-scratching as I did a lot of measuring, and finally the ground strap since it was the only thing left.

I put a Duralast Gold 48 battery in there and it fit fine. Thanks for the help everyone.

Replaced the battery (emergency) this weekend from the local Advance Auto Parts. I bought an AutoCraft Platinum with 760CCA.

Here it is

I was pleased that the remote location I was at had a battery! The store clerk told me to photo copy the receipt as the original receipt would become illegible during the 3 years the battery is warranted.

It was a direct fit but I did needed to purchase some allen wrenches, also, to loosen the hold down at the rear of the battery compartment. If you don't remove and reinstall this piece, in my case, the battery sits too high. Otherwise it is perfect.

Impressed the girlfriend with my 14 minute battery change, too
