I've always wanted a velvet Elvis....

WOW - this could really be a good score for someone. That bumper isn't the end of the world.

Easy fix for a decent body guy....

Were sport seats an option on the GT? Looks like this one doesn't have them.

It isn't one of 'mine.' I know nothing about it. It think it's shown up at Tass's once or twice.

Sport seats were not standard on GTs.

That metallic paint will be hard to match as today's materials are different. It will need to be blended into the fenders. Still: not a big deal.

I should be excited to have heated sport seats in mine, then.

Assuming they're 928 sport seats, then yes.

I am not sure, but there seems to be some rust in the passenger-side fender where it meets the bumper cover.

There maybe more issues than we can see. I do have the correct bumper cover for it. Hmmm.

Aluminum does not "rust" but it will corrode. Given that aluminum corrosion is not something that we hear much about with the 928, I have to wonder just what it is that you are pointing out. It is something for sure, but not rust.

Can't tell for sure, but those seats look more like comfort seats (maybe supple leather) than sport seats to me. Not much curvature to the bolster, vs what I normally see in sport seats.

No where in the listing that I see are sport seats listed. Someone asked if sport seats were an option in 90, and of course they were, but it is clear that they were not included with this GT.

Looks like another Velvet 928 has surfaced.

Velvet Red Metallic (81L) was a "Special Order" color available on the 928 during the 1989 and 1990 model years. The 928 Registry previously contained a total North American production of nine 928s in this color, four of which were GTs (two 89s and two 90s). This car should bring it to ten total, five of which are GTs. I'll get this one added to the Registry as soon as possible.

While the Registry has a list of production numbers and associated option codes, paint codes have remained unavailable. As such, there could be more cars in this color eventually surface.

This car is nearly a twin of mine with three exceptions - it has side mouldings, supple leather, and heated driver's seat. Here are the subject car's options codes:
  • M139 Seat Heating System, Left Seat
  • M158 Radio, Blaupunkt Monterey or Reno
  • M418 Side Protection Moldings
  • M498 Without Vehicle "Type" Lettering on Rear End
  • M570 Air Conditioner with Improved Efficiency (Rear A/C)
  • M650 Electrical Sliding Roof
  • M980 Seat Cover - Draped Leather (Front Seats in Supple Leather)

Very minor question ... doesn't the GT shift boot cover the entire console opening? In this car it looks like there's a flat panel of some kind surrounding the boot?

I have a 90 S4 Velvet Red Metallic(L81) as well. That makes 11
