It is US spec, so it does have the Jetronic computer version, afaik.

I'll keep what I paid for the car to myself for now, but I'm kinda curious as to what others here would value it at.

Thumbs up

We can all chime in as to what we think it's worth but in the end, if you were comfortable paying what you did pay, then it doesn't matter. All cars are worth whatever someone wants to pay for it.

And if you aren't planning on a restoration, but a track car instead, then it's easier to justify getting.

Make sure you get it to start, drive and stop (in no particular order). Then enjoy it!!

If the car was worth ~$10k in a restored condition I'd restore it, otherwise I'd rather leave her a little shabby and spend the money on the go fast parts.

I have a spare hood in the attic, which I would be happy to donate to your effort, if you can pick it up. I am 25 miles north of Houston........

Frankly all i need to say is if you have the passion for the car and really truly like/love it, spending money on it won't feel like a waste of money. If you truly have the passion, time, and will to work hard on it, everything will sort itself out. You'll find the info, you'll get to know the car innards very well, and get it done.

Where on earth is this elusive "Build Sticker" that's suppose to be under the carpet in the rear of the car?

As far as I can tell they don't exist, on my 928 anyways.

I may just have to take you up on that offer, I'm about 3 hours from Houston.

The sticker often disappears. Wear and tear, cleaning, just plain time taking it's toll.

There's an "Official VIN Check and Option Request" thread. It's dropped a couple pages back, but post your VIN in it and there are a couple guys who have access to that data that will tell you what options the car originally came with.

Edit to add:

Here it is:

It is supposed to be on the flat area of the hatch floor to the right of the spare tire well. But even if its there it may not be complete, depends on the build and if it was special ordered. Mine only has one code.
.. I noticed you hace a LSD per the vin check, thats a big plus!!, also it says sunroof, but you mentioned you have sunroof delete. Sunroof delete is also desired, but if you have no sunroof and the VIN says sunroof that is interesting.

Yeah, I guess I forgot to mention that...

I did a Tap test... It didn't bring good news. I have a feeling I'll be at it with a chisel and hammer then welding a patch plate over the thing.

The options sticker is no where to be found.

you mean you think a PO bondo'd over the sunroof? If so look up 'the fixer', he removed the sunroof of his car, and is detailed with pics.

I finally got around to making a video of the car. Its a quick walk around showcasing how abused the poor old Porsche is.

Last minute or so is the car running, its got a rough idle and a nasty ticking noise I don't remember. Anyone have a clue what the ticking noise could be?

The list right now is:

Shift linkage bushings/ect
New ignition switch
Timing belt
Water Pump
New hood
New left fender
New taillights
Fuel pump relay
...and a full tune-up

Anything else I should be getting?

Ticking noise is hard to distinguish via video, but sounds like the fuel injectors. They all tick, but hard to tell if yours are louder than normal.

You, sir, are not a masochist. (Bad thing.) You are a visionary and an optimist. (Good things.) Having reached an age where buying a 12-month subscription represents a financial risk, I envy your ability to embark on this project. Very best of luck with it!

Don't forget the Fuel lines when doing the fuel pump relay.

Its louder than it should be, for reference the exhaust is really loud on the car.

I'm currently guessing its a valve that's ticking.

All the vacuum lines on the car are shot too, so that my have something to do with it.
