Does anyone have advice regarding the rebuild of a 928 fuel pump?

Sealed unit. Break it open and it's toast. Call Roger. 817-430-2688.

Use an ohmmeter. The pumps look like they have crimp seal, but nothing simple comes to mind to uncrimp other than cutting it open below the crimp.

it ran fine, only drew 5amps under all conditions, until it didn't..... and blew the fuse under high g loading. or the wire in the back of the car was shorting against the fuel take straps and chassis.

"Rebuild" is an interesting word that is thrown around on this Forum....and has a huge variance in definition, from place to place, person to person.

While the crimped can could be overcome and a new sealing O-ring could be easily sourced....what are you planning to do for internal pieces once it's apart?

The armature and brushes wear....and I'd guess you could find some brushes (from some other application)and maybe have enough armature left over to turn it down.....but the major problem is the rollers which move the fuel. These rollers rub on hardened steel plates, which get grooves in them, from the rollers "twisting" slightly. This is what "siezes" the majority of the pumps.

I can't imagine anyone having those pieces as replacement parts....

If it is seized from varnished gas try soaking with berrymans overnight the try pulsing with voltage normal and reversed. Don't leave it on long as you will burn it up. Repeat until it frees. Be careful of making sparks. I use a jump box with a switch.

Here's a disassembly of a fuel pump. This pump had jammed on a foreign object and would be rebuild-able if the case didn't have to be cut open.

Here's another, this one was toast...

Yes, don't! Fix it with a new one - they aren't that expensive, are they? By all means, save on labour, but I'd use new parts (when possible) to minimize the number of times that I'd have to do the job.

NOTE when swapping in a new fuel pump ,
also have on hand a new filter,
a short metal connector line
and 6 new sealing washers.

Always use new sealing washers when fittings are loosened
the metal line is usually previously overtightened thus is will leak and tightening it further will make it leak more.
So a new line will be needed,
better to have it on hand then not need it VS have a leaking connection and no way to stop it
