You should have a vehicle I.D. plate in the engine compartment, near the lower hood latch receiver. Also, there should be (not sure when it started) a VIN number stamped into the chassis in the engine compartment, right side (passenger side) in the rear area. The fender has a cutout to show the VIN tab.

I am assuming the green paint shown is the original? Looks like Moss Green (30A).

Cheers!

Agreed

It's the only shade of green that dark for 1982:

I can see why it's been resprayed. It has S4 front panels, and also looks like an S4 spoiler. It's either had a front end collision requiring those panels to be replaced, or the owner wanted to make it look like an S4.

The VIN won't give us the paint colour, but as it appears to be 30A (Moss Green), look for mention of that code on a sticker anywhere on the car (normally back of door jamb), or in any documents you have. However, as it's been repainted, it's very likely the sticker has been removed.

I thought moss green was a solid color. His appears to be a metallic... but it could be the camera flash and dirt.

I can't speak for 1982, but my 85 is Moss Green, and it's metallic. I can't get the actual color code for a couple of days, but I'll post it here if you'd like.
