Ok, I gotta ask:

What's the pickup truck?

From the little I can see, and with very limited knowledge, it looks like an old ******.

Probably wrong on that.

Wisconsin Joe, it's a 1970 Chevy C-10 4x4, 350 small block, TH350 trans. It's what my daughter wanted for her 16th birthday. She spends quite a bit of time around her grandpa and he is always talking about virtues of old American made cars, built forever.

I bet you had fun with the torque tube? Boy are those a lot of fun (sarcastic). Now that I have a lift in my garage I bet it would be much easier but dang was that a job. Now is also a good time to refurb or replace those transmission lines. I can almost guarantee they are leaking.

Dan to be honest sent her to local shop for TT work, after laying under her and dropping front of exhaust to install new O2 sensor, decided I wasn't going to take on TT without a lift! Cost some $$ but they did it in a little over a day and I am quite sure I am much saner!!

Nice and clean

Picked up Marlene late Friday afternoon, to say she is a different car is an under statement!! Also got her a new set of 18" twist rims which totally changed the look. Just finished installing the new stereo head, amp and speakers and will be swapping out my sport seats for a set of comfort seats tomorrow. (sport seats will be sent off to Rob for recovering).

Bill Graff did a damn fine job on everything which was quite a bit to include:
complete top end refresh (hoses, gaskets, vacuum lines, TPS, CPS, Hall sensor, cleaned injectors, Greg Brown oil cooler lines, TT bearings, PKlamp, trans service, differential service, rotors, caps, plug wires, TB/WB with PorKensioner and I am sure that I missed several other items)

Here are a few pictures of Marlene:

Looking good! Sounds like she got Bill's desperately needed royal treatment, just in the nick of time!

I have had some time to puts some miles on Marlene and have a couple pleasant surprises.

First, while on interstate today decided to try cruise control and it works perfectly!!

Second, never had oil pressure reading, after replacing oil pressure sending unit couldn't get a reading, original unit had eye hook connector and spade connector. New one has 2 spade connectors so I replaced eye hook with another spade, still nothing. If I reverse wires I get oil pressure light flashing, centraling light flashes, a regular little carnival. Since I don't have voltmeter reading either figured that side of cluster had issues and would get to it along with odometer gear and lights.

Driving home today the oil pressure gauge magically started working! Pressure between 2-3 bar when driving 30mph or so and pegged at 5 bar when up to 80mph.

She just needed some love and attention!

I'm really happy with the way this car turned out. The first start up after completion was like night and day. The internals are very clean. No sludge at all. This is going to be a great car for a long time to come.

Default UPDATE

Well it has been awhile since my last post. Things continue to progress, since the last post, I drove her 1,800 miles to 3rd Coast and back and she performed almost flawlessly other than an oil fill tube gasket leak. However that trip was the leading factor to a suspension upgrade when we got back!

Now attacking interior issues, specifically the instrument cluster. Since getting her I have not had voltage or oil pressure as well as the lights are so dim on the left hand side I can't read the temp gauge at night. Additionally there are several lights that don't work at all. Bill Graff got cluster out today and this is what was found. I am beginning to think this german masterpiece spent some time as a U-Boat!

The interesting thing is that it is working at all! i do have temp and fuel, although erratic and most warning lights do come on at startup. Working with Roger now on possibility of sourcing another printed circuit film.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried to clean it up?

It looks pretty ugly, but the only things that really matter are the contact points.

A can of DeOxit, some Q-Tips and a pencil with an eraser will take you quite a ways.

No guarantees that it will work, but it won't cost you anything and can't hurt.

ordered new circuit film for gauge cluster, it was installed over the weekend and the cluster put back in today. Everything works perfectly now! Nice to have fully functional gauges and instrument lights!
